Volunteer!

Adult volunteers are crucial to keeping the Pack running smoothly. Pack 432 currently has need of volunteers to fill a positions for 2007-2008 and beyond.  All families are expected to assist with at least one event.  Please see what is needed below and contact the Committee Chair to volunteer.

Pack Leaders!

Thanks to all who volunteered to take on Pack leadership roles for this year. Some of these positions will be vacant at the end of this year. Volunteers are needed to fill these vital positions. Without you, the pack will be unable to run. The following positions must be filled:

Descriptions of Volunteer positions

Pack (one day events)
School Night for Scouting Chairperson attends training, acquires space permit, assembles a greeting staff and organizes meeting. Assistant organizes a group of adults and possibly boy scouts to:
  1. Entertain (with a craft and a game) the potential new scouts for a portion of the time that the meeting is taking place.
  2. Purchase (with pack funds) a snack and beverage.
  3. Provide a small staff for cleanup (sweep floor).
Cubmaster runs meeting the night of event.
Caroling Easy position. Contact senior center to arrange a time. Inform participants of a meeting place and time, and procure snacks.
Blue and Gold Chairperson Oversees sub committees:
Decorations
organize staff to decorate
Entertainment
Find entertainment for the event, and make necessary arrangements
Site
Find site and submit paperwork
Food
Procurement of pre-cooked portion of meal.
Food
Organize pot-luck portion of meal.
Puzzles
find and reproduce word search, etc.
Programs
create program handouts and make copies

 

Overnights
Tiger Overnight (with aid from tiger parents) will select place for event. Collect money and register the scouts and adults. Contact coordinator of activity and inform tigers of options, details, "what to bring", etc. Arrange meeting place and transportation (carpooling)
Wolf/Bear overnight Collect money and register the scouts and adults. Contact coordinator of activity and inform scouts of options, details, "what to bring", etc. Arrange meeting place and transportation (carpooling).
Webelos overnight: Collect money and register the scouts and adults. Contact coordinator of activity and inform scouts of options, details, "what to bring", etc. Arrange meeting place and transportation (carpooling).
Family camping (fall) Camping Chairperson Will organize small staffs that will:
  1. Find a location and associated costs.
  2. Get count of scouts and adults.
  3. Collects fees, registrations, and appropriate health and release forms.
  4. Purchase food (unless everyone provides their own).
  5. Arrange meeting location and transportation.
  6. Provide directions.
  7. Make a schedule of activities for scouts
Family camping/rafting (spring) In addition to those items listed for fall camping, staff needs to organize rafting outfitter.
Camping at Broadcreek (summer) Collect money and register the scouts and adults. Contact coordinator at Broadcreek and inform scouts of dates, options, details, "what to bring", etc. Arrange meeting place and transportation (carpooling)
Webelos-O-Ree 1) Sends in application. 2) Collects fees, registrations, and appropriate health and release forms. 3) Organizes transportation. Assistant procures food and organizes equipment for camping.

 

Fundraiser
Popcorn The popcorn attends a training session, oversees the sales, collects the order forms and money, organizes pickup and distributes orders to scouts.

 

Races
Pinewood Derby oversees sub committees for car races:
Setup
Set up & tear down the day of the event
Checkin
Official weigh-in and registration of cars.
Pit Crew
assist with preliminary weigh-in and fixing cars
Food (procurement)
Purchase food and drinks.
Food (concession)
Prepare and sell food the day of the event.
Storage
Store the track and board. The track must be stored in a climate-controlled environment.
Space Derby oversees sub committees for rocket races:
Setup
Set up & tear down the day of the event
Checkin
Registration of rockets.
Launch Crew
Wind rockets for each race. Assist with fixing rockets.
Food (procurement)
Purchase food and drinks.
Food (concession)
Prepare and sell food the day of the event.
Storage
Store the starting gate (size of two large sawhorses).
Rain Gutter Regatta/Summer Picnic oversees sub committees for boat races:
Setup
Set up & tear down the day of the event
Supplies
Ensure that all supplies are on hand to build boats the day of the race.
Food (procurement)
Purchase food and drinks.
Food (preparation)
Prepare food the day of the event.

 

Council and District (one day events)
Tiger Zoo Day Easy position. Organize a meeting place and try to spark interest. Collect money and register the scouts and adults. Tigers require an adult partner.
National Family Volunteer Day Easy position. Try to spark interest and obtain an approximate number of participating scouts and parents. Contact program coordinator and inform participants of a meeting place and/or project location.
Navy Football Game Collect names and money from families wanting to attend the game, and turn in to Navy football. You do not have to attend the game to be point of contact.
Klondike Derby Easy position. Collect money and register the scouts and adults. Try to spark interest. Assistant (Assisting at Monkey Bridge/Zip line): Organize a small staff of adults to assist at a Klondike station.
Baltimore Blast Easy position. Collect money and register the scouts and adults. Try to spark interest.
We Remember Easy position. Get approximate count, collect money for patches(if applicable) and register the scouts. Try to spark interest.
Scout Olympics Easy position. Get approximate count, collect money and register the scouts. Try to spark interest.
