The Park
Yale field is home to the New Haven Ravens, the St. Louis Cardinals� Double A affiliate in the Eastern League. The field, which dates to 1927, is also used by Yale University�s baseball team. The grandstand is in good condition, but does show its age. Beams are abundant and wood benches comprise some of the seating. The area under the stands, which houses some of the food vendors, some restrooms, and the souvenir shop, is dark and narrow. An area behind the metal general admission bleachers in left is less claustrophobic. The children�s play area is outside the stadium, with its own entrance. I saw two vendors walking around the stands, one selling beer and the other selling food, something I don�t recall seeing at other minor league games I�ve attended. My favorite feature was the walkway behind the last row in the grandstand, much like that in Pawtucket�s McCoy Stadium. |
