| The Park The Hudson Valley Renegades, who play in Dutchess Stadium, were the only affiliated minor league team in upstate New York east of Cooperstown until 2002, when a team moved to Troy. Well, I find it somewhat interesting, and Im desperate. The ballpark is nice enough, but there is nothing that makes it memorable. It reminds me of New Jersey's Skylands Park on the inside and a bit on the outside, but the outside does not have as much character. |
| That Day We (my son, oldest daughter and I) saw the Renegades, a Tampa Bay Devil Rays affiliate, play the Mahoning Valley Scrappers, the Cleveland Indians New York-Penn League affiliate, on August 1, 2001. Although the Scrappers had the worst record in the league, they won, 3-1. Scrappers DH Rickie Morton hit his league leading 10th home run, a solo shot in the 6th, and drove in another run with a single in the 8th. For the home team, RF Luis Candelario drove in the lone run in the 5th, going 3 for 4 on the day. |
