| To develop Package of Practices for runoff and sediment control from denuded hills.
To evolve specifications of mechanical and vegetative measures for erosion control. Evaluation of hydrological behavior of both hilly and agricultural watersheds in terms of sediment and runoff discharge. To take up Watershed Development Projects for flood and drought control, augmenting groundwater and for providing supplemental irrigation to the crops. Identification and evaluation of different tree and grass species for rehabilitation of denuded hills, reducing erosion and increasing productivity of degraded land. To develop suitable alternative land use systems for rainfed areas. Economic evaluation of watershed development projects in terms of raising the socio-economic status of the people living in Shivalik foothills villages. To impart training in the field of Soil and Water Conservation and Watershed Management. To provide technical support and offer Consultancy in the field of Natural Resource Management. |
