Streamliner Model
A Dream...No, Soon To Be A Reality!
Welcome to the unofficial CSUN Streamliner page. Check out our pictures of the motorcycle being built to set a land speed record at Bonneville!

We have been designing since September of 2000 and are starting manufacturing now ( April 2001 ). Our team consists of 8-10 senior engineering students and our advisor. We have one hell of a lab and couldn't pull this off without the school's support.

The motorcycle will be entered into the 650cc, gas, naturally aspirated engine, streamlined motorcycle class. Our power plant is a YAMAHA R6 (600cc) engine that was donated to the project. The basic dimensions of the cycle are 16 feet in length, 32 inches wide and 32 inches tall. The driver will control outriggers with skids for lateral support until the vehicle is stable at which time they will be retracted to cut down on wind resistance.

Our goal is
200mph, and through much analysis ( including scaled wind tunnel runs ) this goal is achievable.

Fall 2001- The start of new year of Senior Design has started and most everybody has moved on.  This year started out with only 4 members, but has now grown in size.  We have completed the frame, mounted the engine and rear suspension.  There are many parts that have been received and are waiting to be mounted.

The concentration now has been shifted to the front suspension, a job undertaken solely by Mark R. last year is now being completely analyzed by the 4 main members this semester.  Mark's design will be used, but with further analysis of the kinematics and stress analysis of the assembly.

Working alongside the main team are three students that will complete some assemblies like the parachute, pedals, and the outriggers.  Toru continues on by advising the assistants and working with Dr. Prince in the lab.  Dave M. is back to also guide the new team and lend his "expertise" on the project.  Dave also continues to work on the pneumatics and driver controls.
the story continues....
someday I will get to this!!!
