What Makes A Dad
God took the strength of a mountain,
The majesty of a tree,
The warmth of a summer sun,
The calm of a quiet sea,
The generous soul of nature,
The comforting arm of night,
The wisdom of the ages,
The power of the eagles flight,
The joy of a morning in spring,
The faith of a mustard seed,
The patience of eternity,
The depth of a family need.
Then God combined these qualitities,
And when there was nothing more to add,
He knew His masterpiece was complete,
And so, He called it - - Dad.

This page is dedicated in memory of my dad, Manuel Sherman Whisenhunt, Sr. Dad was born in Lula, Oklahoma on September 23, 1929. He died in Killeen, Texas on March 3, 2003, after being severly beaten by three men in his own home. The investigation is still open though nobody has been charged at this time.
Everyone called dad "Slim" because he was so tall and slender. Dad never met a stranger and was loved by all who met him. He would give you the shirt off his back if he thought you needed it and was always there to lend a helping hand if he could.
I can picture my Mom and Dad in heaven dancing to "I Can't Stop Loving You" and "Together Again". Those were "their" songs. We love you Dad and miss you a lot.
If you have lost your dad, I hope you find comfort here. If you haven't, I hope if reminds you to tell him how much he means to you.
