Lessons and Practice

2006-2007 Winter Season Weekly Indoor Group Practice (November 2006 - March 2007)

Location: Comeb Tennis Center at Northwestern University (inside SPAC, 6 indoor courts).

We will have 4 different practice groups (A, B, C, and D; two more groups than last winter season) with different weekly schedules to accommondate all the CSSTC-NU memebers who are interested.

Group A (advanced, NTRP 4.0 and up)
Time: 9-10:30 pm, Wednesday
Group size: 4 (no more spot available)

Group B (intermediate and advanced, NTRP 3.5-4.0)
Time: weeknight (between 7-10:30 pm)
Group size: 4 (open for registration)

Group C (beginners and advanced beginners, NTRP 1.0-2.5)
Time: 10-11:30 am, Saturday
Group size: 6 (open for registration)
*Free tennis lesson for Group C for the first 4 weeks.

Group D (advanced beginners and up, NTRP 2.5 and up)
Time: anytime on Sunday
Group size: 4 (open for registration)

2006 Free Beginner's Lessons (April 2006 - June 2006):
(Beginner's level members are those who just started to play tennis or have played tennis for less than 1 year. They improve mostly by trying to hit the ball back to the other end consistently. NTRP rating: 1.0-2.0)

Summary of CSSTC-FBL-2006:

1.The 1st lesson was on 04/09 (tennis vedio show on 04/02); the 8th lesson was on 06/04; We have had lessons consectively with only one interrupt (04/30);

2. Over 40 people showed interests in our free lessons; 32 have registered.

3. The number of participants for each lesson (from 1st to 8th): 23, 20, 28, 17, 8, 17, 11, 9.

4. One member made it to all the 8 lessons; 5 members made 7 out of 8; 4 members just showed up once.

5. Averagely, each participant made 4.22 out of 8 lessons.

* The 2007 Free Beginner's Lesson (CSSTC-FBL-2007) will be open for registration next March.

This is our first tournament which was organized by Wei Zhang. Eight players entered. Congratulations to Sunny Shi for winning the championship and Yingwei Cai for being the runner-up.

11/26/2005: 2005 Chicagoland Chinese Tennis Club Group Challenge (Heritage Tennis Club, Arlington Heights)
This double tournament was organized by GCCTA. Six teams (four doubles each team) participated. Our club formed a joint team with GCCTA (two doubles from each clubs) by sending out Yingwei Cai/Wei Xiao and Wei Zhang/Yaoqiu Zhu. The CSSTC-NU/GCCTA joint team failed to advance to the next round.

07/08/2006: Friendly group matches CSSTC-NU vs Purdue (2-5 pm, Purdue University Outdoor Courts, West Lafayette, IN). Result: W 5-4

07/15/2006: Friendly group matches CSSTC-NU vs UIUC (2-5 pm, Atkins Tennis Center, Urbana, IL). Result: W 7-2
