Mr. and Mrs. George Crabtree and sons Joe and Gene came from Omaha, Dec., 1975, to get away from the crowded city. George works for Dawson Transport and Joyce works at Gurneys in Yankton. Mrs. Crabtree was a native of Magnet when she was a little girl. She is the daughter of Hans Suckstorf and Lillie Christianson. Vivian Erickson and her late husband Roy, came here in the winter of 1967. They farmed near Wausa. They raised nine children. Mr. Erickson passed away Dec. 25, 1967. Mrs. Erickson enjoys her house plants and gardening. Also does lots of fancy hand work. Mr. and Mrs. Clark White and Hazel came to Magnet in 1967. They lived one mile south of town and farmed. Mrs. White passed away in Oct. 11, 1970. Mr. White and Hazel now make their home in Wausa at the Rest Home. Mr. and Mrs. Albin Carlson came to Magnet Dec. 18, 1960. They live in the first old bank building. They farmed around Randolph, McLean, Magnet and Osmond before retiring. They raised three girls and four boys. Albin came from Motala, Sweden in 1913. Came here when he was a young man. He met Rose in Oakland, Nebr. while working there. Albin was awarded the Good Neighbor Award in 1975. Albin is Magnet Golden Age Bi-Centennial King. He is 83 years old. Rose likes to do fancy work. Mr. and Mrs. John Bowling moved into town Oct., 1966. John worked for Pete Anderson on the farms for many years. In 1950 they farmed for themselves and before retiring into town they farmed one and a half miles north of Magnet. Mr. and Mrs, Bowling also have a big and yummie garden. Their son Ronnie works for Theison of Osmond. Mr. and Mrs. Gussie Yunker are owners of the YunkerTavern. They moved off the farm and into town in 1960. Laura Jones and her late husband Malvin, lived here when they were first married in 1930 and worked for Floyd Dawson. Mr. Jones was born here at Magnet. In Aug. 1936, they moved to California and he worked for a grocery store as a buyer. In June, 1958 they retired because of their health and moved back to Magnet. Mr. Jones passed away Febr. 3, 1971. Laura still enjoys planting a good garden.
