Johnston LumberMr. and Mrs. Francis Johnston bought the lumber yard from Jerald and Robert Henrickson in 1973. On May 6, 1975 the tornado flattened it. Francis and Sara salvaged as much as they could. Moving into the old telephone office which was used as the home for Mrs. Elise Goodman until she entered into the Rest Home in Wausa. Johnston's used this as their office until Febr., 1976, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Bergman bought out the stock and plans are in the process of having hardware store and some lumber. J & L HardwareThe Hardware store is in the process of being a successful business. Joe and Dian Bergman moved a barn in from a farm south of Magnet. They put it where the old lumber yard was. Right now they are fixing the building up, but now their office and stock is in the old filling station. There are many organizations in Magnet. They are: Baseball Little League People now living in Magnet in 1976 are: Mr. and Mrs. John Claussen came to Magnet in Febr. 1964. They farmed near Wausa and Bloomfield for many years and raised eight boys and five girls before retiring. John came over from Germany when he was 14 years old. Anna Nelson and her late husband Pete, came from the farm north of town in the winter of 1952. They semi-retired, Pete worked for Floyd Dawson in the station and also worked 4 years as janitor at the school. Pete came over from Sweden. He passed away on May 17, 1974.
