from Ellis Tilton. This was destroyed by the tornado and rebuilt. Mr. and Mrs. McFarland lived in Magnet when they were first married in Nov. 4, 1967. Later moved to Spencer and worked as a farmhand. Mr. and Mrs. McFarland and four children moved back in March, 1975. Mr. McFarland did not continue his lease for the station and repair shop for 1976. Mrs. McFarland works as the postal clerk.

Tilton Oil Co.

Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Tilton and family came into Magnet in 1953 from Center. Along with Ellis Tilton, his Dad, Harry and a brother-in-law Ona, bought out the filling station and livestock trucks from Floyd Dawson. In Dec., 1954, Ellis and Harry bought out Ona Thierolf. Harry passed away in 1968 and Ellis and wife Berla run the station until March, 1975, when they leased it to Eldon McFarland. Ellis runs the tank wagon business and in April, 1976 returned to the station and repair shop.

Dawson Transport Co.

This is owned by Floyd and Dan Dawson. The first transport that Floyd had was in 1937 and his brother Kenny was in partnership with him. It was a GMC and the tank held 2510 gallons. Few years later Kenny moved to Osmond and dissolved the partnership. Floyd continued on but changed trucks, going to Internationals, also bigger tanks (3750 gallons).

After Dan came back from the Navy he went into partnership with his Dad. Of course, things got bigger and better. They went to Peterbuilts, Macks, Internationals and Kenworths. Now all long nosed Kenworths and Internationals. The biggest gasoline tanks hold 8500 gallons. They now have four gasoline tanks which one is used for liquid fertilizer during fertilizer season and two propane tanks which holds 10,850 gallons and 10,450 gallons, which are converted over to anhydrous during the fertilizer season, also, oil tanker and a grain trailer. Plus four tractors which are: 1972 W-900 KW, 1974 W-900 KW ,1975 W-900 KW, 1973 4200 International and one leased tractor (1970 K-125 KW). For a couple of years in 1973 and 1974 they had two possumbelly trailers.
