sold the tools and equipment of the shop to Mr. Kessler of Wausa. They moved the antiques out into the block building and enlarged their antique business. Yunker' s TavernMr. and Mrs. Gussie Yunker bought the tavern from Onie Theriolf (Thierolf) in Nov., 1959. Being a bad winter they didn't take it over until Febr., 1960. In 1889 George W. Dewey plotted that piece of land and from it started a drug store which was George Bangs in 1913. Later in years it became a pool hall and a barber shop in one room. Some of the latest owners were Earl Chrisman, Art O'Brian and Ona Theriolf. Magnet Market and VarietyThis store is now owned by Mr. and Mrs. Harold Wintz. They came after the tornado from Omaha. They have a daughter Michelle and son Mike that help now and then around the store. They bought the store from Mr. & Mrs. Wayne Rohde in June 1, 1975. At one time in this building was the first drug store owned by Vickery. Also the first filling station in the lean-to of the store, then grocery store and creamery and post office. Post OfficeThe Post Office is one of our newest buildings in town after the storm. Mr, and Mrs. Wayne Rohde moved into the new building; and put out mail in the new boxes in Aug. 20, 1975. Wayne and Irene and three children farmed 8 miles north of town and sold out Febr. 26, 1960. March 1, 1960, bought the grocery store from the Village of Magnet. In this grocery store they also tested cream until Wayne became Postmaster and had the Post Office in the lean-to of the store. On June 1, 1975, sold the store to Harold and Connie Wintz. McFarland Service & RepairThe Phillips 66 station and repair shop was leased to Mr. and Mrs. Eldon McFarland in March 17, 1975 (cont.)
