Who We Are
David and Crystal
He’s from Texas; she’s from Montana. God brought them together in 1997 and, one month before their wedding in 1998, called them to be missionaries to East Africa. David completed 7 ½ years in the U.S. Air Force in July of 2003, and in October of 2003 they finally took their first short-term trip to Tanzania together for five weeks. (Crystal had visited Tanzania for one month in 1995, before they met.) During and throughout the weeks following this trip, the Lord revealed to David that he will be involved in an airport ministry that is in preliminary planning stages. This ministry will be based in Sakila, Tanzania, to deliver Bibles and medical supplies throughout eastern Africa countries and to fly evangelists to remote areas to witness and disciple off the beaten African path. Now David is in flight and aviation maintenance training in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Crystal is the publications coordinator at a Tulsa-based company and continues to study Swahili almost every day. (Their adorable dog, Ike, remained with friends in Florida between July and December but was reunited with his parents and now lives with them in Tulsa.)
Why we call ourselves Light of the World Missions:
We pray that the True Light of the World, our Lord Jesus Christ, will shine through us to minister to others, taking them out of their spiritual darkness and into His marvelous light, just as He has so mercifully rescued us by the grace of God and through the blood, cross, and resurrection of the Lamb. Now the Holy Spirit dwells within us, and our prayer is that the Lord will guide us to do His will all of our days, not because of who we are but because of His great love for us and for each person in the world.
John 14:36
"I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in Me should not abide in darkness."
John 8:12
Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, "I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life."
Matthew 5:13-16
"You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your father in heaven."
Philippians 2:14-15
Do all things without complaining or disputing, that you may become blameless and harmless, the children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world
