Chao, of the house of Yamane, of the Blue Dragon Kingdom. She serves Leen-sama faithfully, though she has a little secret we discover in Issue 3. She was the former lover of Sou-sama, former Phantom Saint of the Red Phoenix before Dark inherited the position. Because she cared so much for Sou, when she discovered he was dead, by the intruder's (Dark) hand, no less, she wants to kill Dark. After Tou fails to defeat Dark, she steps forward as his next challenge. She makes him admit he killed Sou, but will not listen to the why. She then admits that she and Sou-sama were lovers, and how it happened. (BTW, the love was forbidden, and the training too, because they were from different lands. That's why she never admitted it before.) Chao then proceeds to try and kill Dark with a spell she and Sou created, but Kyo takes the blast and dies from it. Then Chao tries something else, but Sou-sama appears in Dark's place. Though she wants to kill Dark, and believes Dark is hiding in an illusion of Sou, she cannot finish her spell, an is almost killed because of it. Sou-sama/Dark saves her, though. In the end, before they go separate ways, she forgives him (it seems).
