Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles Overview |
Square and Nintendo Have settled their differences and SquareSoft, using Yamuchi's Q-Fund, has created a development subsidiary called "The Game Designers Studio" who are dedicated to creating titles exclusive for Nintendo Gamecube, their first title is Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles for Nintendo Gamecube.
The Game is being directed by the man responsible for the Legend of Mana Series (Seiken Densetsu), Akitoshi Kawazu. The character designer for Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles, Toshiyuki Itahana, also worked on Final Fantasy IX which may explain the similar style between the two games..
The Gameplay, unlike previous Final Fantasies, will be action
oriented.

The Battle Screen |
In a battle each players stats will be displayed in each corner along with their name and health which is represented by small hearts a lot like in the Legend of Zelda. The green circle represents the 'A' button and its function changes depending on the situation, the same goes for the orange circle which represents the 'B' button.
The storyline follows the Journey of four youths sent out by a village to fetch the Mana Water from the Mana Tree so the Crystal can be purified which protects the civilisation from Shouki (Death Vapour) which kills anyone it comes in contact with, but the light of the crystal is preventing the Death Vapour from hurting anyone.
The game will be release on 7/18/03 in Japan and is rumoured to be released on 11/3/03.
