My Korean MK Friends!

This is a page I made about my close Korean MK friends. You'll notice that a lot of them are studying in Korea like myself.

Helen Kang is one of my best friends from Faith Academy, who is now attending Yonsei Unv. (majoring in visual design). Her parents are also missionaries in the Philippines. They are currently training Filipinos in their Bible School in Manila. She seems to be enjoying her life here in Korea. She is actively attending her church as a pianist for their main service. She also sings in other services. She also joined couple of clubs at her school. She says that it has always been a stress for her to catch up on her school work, because her professors demand way too much. But she's still happy with what she does.
Grace Yoo has been my friend for almost 10 years. Her parents built a prayer mountain in Manila and are still working as missionaries in the Philippines. Grace is currently studying Marketing in Biola University. Grace loves to play pool and hanging out with friends. And I think she likes going dancing.
Joon Hur and Cheon Sub Shim are two of my male MK friends. Joon(left) is a Nepal MK who used to study Aviaiton in the States till last semester. He came back to Korea this semester to join the army. Cheon Sub used to live in Vietnam but came back to Korea to finish his high school years. He joined the army after his first year at KyongHee University.
I met ShiEun(Kim) in Hankuk Academy when i was in fifth grade. We also attended Faith Academy together untill our junior year. She went to the States for her senior year with her family (for a furlough). She is now studying at Calvin College.
I met Hyemin Jang at Faith. Her parents work in Davao, where a lot of the Muslims in the Philippines live. Hyemin loves to play sports, singing, chatting, and taking pictures. Hyemin is studying Management at Handong University. Hyemin has one older brother (who's in the army) and two younger siblings who are still at Faith Academy. Her little brother is planning on going to Handong just like his older siblings. Even her little sister is planning on going to Handong the following year. I find it quite funny that they all like Handong so much.
This is a picture of an MK meeting held in Handong. MKs in Handong University in Korea meet occationally to pray for each other, their parents' mission field, their school, and for the world in general. They meet and socialize as well. Handong University is known for having a large population of MKs (and Christians) on campus.
This picture was taken during our Korean Faith Reunion last winter. Since several of us attend Handong (in Pohang) we decided to only have our reunion during the breaks. When we meet, we usually update each other on what's going on with our lives. We also share prayer requests if there's any. We make plans for future meetings, as well. We started this meeting not only for our own benefit but also to provide useful advices for those Faith kids who are planning on coming back to Korea to study just like we did.
This is a statistic that I found in the MKNEST site. This graph shows the growing number of Korean missionaries. In the year 2000, there were 8,103 Korean missionaries in 162 different countries. Among these missionaries, 1,031 of them were singles and 7,072 were couples. Assuming that there are two kids per missionary family, then we can say that there were around 6,500~7,000 Korean missionary kids around the world in the year 2000. This statistic was made by KRIM, a Korean misionary research institute.
