| Cuisine La Lusianne A Yankee friend of mine And yes, I have a few Came down for a visit And what was I to do When she said she wanted To try our fine cuisine I did try to warn her I wasn't being mean But Lusiana food Takes a certain palate It requires tolerance For food that's really hot But she thought I was just Exaggerating things And she just insisted That she give it a fling I made reservations And after one more try To talk her out of it The fateful night arrived I made some suggestions Not of which she took So I said a short prayer And almost feared to look She did all right at first Loved the appetizer But when the main course came Her temp started rising She tried hard to hide it But I had a few hints Her fair skin had the most Extraordinary tint Sweat covered her upper lip Smoke came out of her ears She looked apoplectic Her face was streaked with tears I felt like such a heel I really, truly did But I tried to warn her It's not like I had hid That Lusiana flair For hot and spicy food I even tried to change Her adventurous mood But she was determined To satisfy her taste But look there at her plate Still full, oh what a waste Ah, well, a lesson learned A warning to all Yanks When offered Cajun food Say, loud and clear, no thanks Copyright 4/9/2001 Terri Lyn Stanfield All Rights Reserved |
| Devil In Disguise The silence is so loud That it echoes inside my head Bouncing off of memories Wreaking havoc with my senses I can smell your scent Hear you laughter It pushes me one step closer to insanity Your picture still hangs on the wall There to mock me at every turn I should take it down, I know But it would do no good Your image is emblazoned on my brain Each time I close my eyes There you are, smirking at me How could I have ever thought your smile beautiful I thought you were an angel But you were the devil in disguise Now you're gone And I live in my own personal hell Copyright 4/9/2001 Terri Lyn Stanfield All Rights Reserved |
