Chapter 12

The next day

Anna woke up the next morning to the sound of someone knocking on the door. Groaning, she rolled out of bed to answer it. She swung the door open to see Sean standing there, grinning at her disheveled appearance.
"What Sean?"
"Time to get up Devane, we have work to do," Sean said walking into the hotel room.
She sighed and sat on the bed. "Did they do it?" She asked him.
"Yes, Helena is locked away in a small room at Wyndemere waiting for us."
"Good. Why are you up so early?"
"Frisco's plane lands in two hours."
"So? You didn't have to wake me up for that."
"I know, but I just love seeing you in the morning."
She picked up a pillow and threw it at him. "You can go now Sean."
"Nope, I can't, because you're coming with me to the cabin."

~~~
Robert woke up that morning to a severe headache. The night before, he had opted for a shot glass and a bottle of vodka instead of talking to his brother about their sister. Felicia had tried to stop him but soon gave up.
Robert moaned as he searched through his desk for a bottle of aspirin. The door of the office opened and Luke and Mac walked in.
"Heard you had fun last night," Luke said.
Robert shook his head as his brother and best friend sat down across from him. He sighed thinking that less than twenty-fours hours before, in the same office, he and Mac had been remembering their sister. Hours later, finding out that she was alive, had been held captive by Faison, had three kids, and had been in training to become a double agent.
"What now?" Mac asked.
"I don't know," Robert said as he swallowed four aspirin with a glass of water.
~~~
An hour later, Erica and Sean had left the cabin to go to the airport to pick up Frisco and Kyla. Anna had stayed at the cabin with Alex, Andrea, Zander, Michelle, and Robin.
Anna was in the kitchen trying to make a pot of coffee when there was a knock at the door. No one knew that they were at the cabin, so Anna picked up her gun from the table and slowly walked to the door.
She opened it to find Robert, Mac, and Luke standing there. Robert and Mac both eyed her with contempt. She sighed and walked back to the kitchen. Luke followed her.
"What happened last night?" Anna asked Luke.
"He got drunk and now he has a hangover." Luke said leaning against the counter.
"Figured as much," she muttered as Robert walked into the kitchen. He glared at Anna. She sighed and gave up trying to make the coffee.
"Where's Erica?"
"With Sean," Anna answered shortly. Luke sighed.
"Well, I gotta go," Luke said. "Hells Bells is probably trying to claw her way outta that room that Vlad and I put her in."
"Sean and I will be there soon," Anna said.
"Good," Luke said. He gave Anna a sly grin and left her and Robert alone.
"What was that about?" Robert asked Anna.
"Nothing that concerns you Robert."
"Damn't Anna!"
"What's going on in here?" Alex asked coming into the kitchen with Mac right behind her.
"Nothing," Robert and Anna answered simutaneously.
"Yeah, I really believe that," Alex said.
"Give it a rest, Alex," Anna said, pushing past Robert and leaving the kitchen. She walked to one of the bedrooms and slammed the door behind her.

~~~
Sean and Erica waited as Frisco and Kyla made their way through the terminal towards them. Once Kyla saw her mother, she fell from her father's protective arms and ran to her.
Erica held onto her youngest daughter tightly. She was still doing so when Frisco walked up.
"Frisco," Sean said.
"Sean," he looked at Erica and Kyla. "Hey babe," he said as she stood up. He kissed her on her cheek before she picked up Kyla and the four of them left the terminal.
Less the thirty feet away, Andreas Andropolous watched. He pulled out his cell phone. "The Joneses are leaving the airport with Donelly. Follow them."
~~~
Alex sighed and went over to fix the coffee. "I don't understand you two," she said turning to Robert once she was done making the coffee.
"And why is that?" Robert asked.
"You drive each other crazy."
"I haven't seen her in twenty-three years!"
"So? It doesn't matter, she'll always love you."

~~~
Robin heard her aunt's bedroom door slam. She cautiosly opened her door and peeked out into the living room where she saw Alex arguing with her father and  uncle. Slowly she walked across the hall to her aunt's room and opened the door. Her mother was lying on the bed crying.
"Mom?"
Anna looked up at her daughter and wiped the tears from her face. "Good morning Robin," she said, trying to be cheerful.
"It'd be a better morning if you told me what was wrong."
"Nothing's wrong," Anna lied.
"Sure, and you cry like this on a regular basis," Robin stated sarcastically. Anna sighed and sat up. Robin walked over and sat next to her mother.
"What's wrong?"
"Your father can be so infuriating sometimes," Anna said.
~~~
Zander heard the unmistakeable sounds of Robert and Mac's voices. He groaned as he looked at the clock. He glanced at the opposite side of the room where Michelle was asleep. They had stayed up late talking about everything and he had finally gotten her to agree to sit down and hear their mother out, to let her tell Michelle what had happened. Finally around three in the morning, she had fallen asleep.

Zander rolled out of bed and peeked out the door. Robert and Mac were talking to Anna. He shook his head as he walked to the bathroom and got into the shower; it was going to be a long day.

~~~
Cesar Faison sat in his jail cell awaiting his most prescious visitor. Soon she would arrive and his plan would be set into motion. It would begin with several well placed incidents the least of all being the bombing of the Devane-Scorpio safehouse.
In the end, he would get his ultimate prize and everyone else would be dead.
~~~
She walked through the PCPD with an aristrocratic air. She knew her status was above anyone in the small building. She knew exactly who to go to when she saw him.
"Lieutenant Taggert?" She inquired.
"Yes," Taggert said turning to face the young woman. She had dark blond hair that was pulled back in a tight French braid, every strand in place.
"I'm here to see one of your prisoners, I was told to speak with you." It was a lie of course, and she was glad that the Lieutenant was looking at her rather than through her.
"The prisoner in question?" Taggert asked, sudenly realizing that something was going on.
"Cesar Faison," she replied without hesitation.
"Are you aware that Faison is soon to be transferred to a WSB facility in Washington."
"Yes, that is why I'm here to see him now."
"Very well, right this way, Ms..."
"Raine, Asia Raine."
"Very well, Ms. Raine."
"Call me Asia, Lieutenant."
"Asia," Taggert said. "If you'll wait right in there, I'll bring Faison up," he added opening the door to the visiting room.
Asia walked inside the room, once Taggert closed the door she pulled a small device from her purse and casually placed it under the table effectively scrambling all listening devices in the room.

~~~
Taggert walked down the hall to his office. Asia Raine. He knew that name from somewhere. He walked inside his office and turned the computer on and ran the name Asia Raine through the database. Ater a minute the computer found something.
According to the WSB, Asia Raine was supposedly killed during a raid of one of Faison's compounds, short of that, she was wanted by the bureau for questioning about the kidnapping and attempted murder of Frisco Jones.
His brow furrowed in confusion. They mentioned Frisco, but nothing about Erica. That was strange, unless the WSB didn't want anyone else to know about it which was entirely possible. But he had a nagging feeling that something else was going on.
~~~
"We have a problem," Sean said galncing in his rearview mirror.
"What is it?" Frisco asked leaning forward towards the fromt seat.
"Someone's following us," Sean replied.
"Are you sure?" Erica asked.
"Yeah, they've been behind us for three blocks."
"Lose them," Frisco said glancing at his daughter and her mother.
"That's what I'm trying to do," Sean said. "Erica, call the cabin, tell them to go to town, I have a bad feeling."

~~~
Alex had poured both Mac and Robert coffee and they all proceded to the living room to talk.
"I never knew that Anna had a twin sister," Robert said.
"Neither did she," Alex said. "It's a long complicatd story, but the jist of it is that our mother kidnapped me when we were babies, thinking that she had Anna."
"Oh," Robert said taking a sip of his coffee as a phone rang. Alex answered it on the second ring.
"Hello," she said.
"Hello Alex, goodbye Alex," came the ominous voice from the other end of the line before a monotone beep signalled that the caller had hung up. Alex looked at the phone and shook her head before it rang again.
"Hello," she said irritably.
"Alex, you and Anna need to get the kids out of the house," Erica said.
"Why?"
"Someone's been following us since we left the airport and Sean has a bad feeling about it."
"Okay, we'll take care of it." Alex turned the phone off and ran towards her bedroom to get Anna.
~~~
Taggert relunctantly led Faison to the visiting room. He didn't want to let Faison have any type of conversation with one of his employees, but he couldn't stop it now.
"Cesar," Asia said standing up when the door opened.
"Asia," Faison said with a cold, calculationg smile as Taggert left the room after handcuffing him to the table.
"It is safe to talk in here, Cesar," Asia said.
"I know darling, you haven't let me down yet."
She gave him a small smile and a nod. "I done what you asked. Their safehouse will be a pile of rummble in approximately," she looked at her watch, "ten minutes."
"Did Donelly call and warn them?"
"Erica did."
"Very well, take care of the other matter, and I will be out of this place before the day is over."

~~~
Luke Spencer walked towards the safehouse/cabin that Sean had arranged for Erica, her kids, Frisco, Alex, and Andrea. He shook his head wondering how he had gotten into this mess. All because his curiousity got the better of him, he was now dodging bullets from Helena and Faison. 'Note to self,' Luke thought, 'don't ever, ever, get caught up in an unofficial WSB investigation.'
And then he had to ask why it wasn't official, and that got him into even more trouble. So now he owed Anna, Erica, Frisco, and Sean his silence about what had really happened in Faison's compound. It wasn't an easy task becuase he was keeping secrets from his best friends, but Anna had threatened to kill him. Although he knew that she really wouldn't, he wasn't going to take any chances.
As he approached the house, he heard the distinct ticking of a clock. Glancing around the porch of the cabin he didn't see anything, but right under the first step he saw a small box. He quickened his pace and pulled the box out form under the porch. It was a bomb. He checked the timer, he had six minutes to either get everyone out of the house and run or try to disarm it. The former was much more tempting. He stood up and ran into the house.
~~~
Alex opened the door to her bedroom, Anna and Robin were sitting on the bed.
"We need to get out of the house now, Sean said someone's following them and he has a bad feeling about it."
"Well he's got more than that," Luke said coming into the bedroom. "There's a bomb outside ready to blow this place in about five minutes."
Robin stood up and ran across the hall where Michelle and Andrea were sleeping she quickly woke them as Zander walked into the room.
"What's going on?" He asked.
"Luke found a bomb outside."
"Okay, you kids get what you can together in the next minute. Zander get them to town, here's the keys to Luke's car," Anna said tossing Zander the keys. Michelle quickly got some clothes together as Robin and Andrea went to their room to do the same.

Anna, Alex and Luke walked into the living where a curious Mac and an angry Robert were waiting.
"We don't have time for this, you two, if you want to help, then help. because there's a bomb ready to blow this place up right outside," Anna said forcefully. She looked Robert in the eye, he nodded.
"What do you need us to do?"
"First we need to get everyone out of here," Luke said as the four teens came out of the bedrooms and left the house.
"Okay, I can get med supplies from the hospital," Alex said."
"And all of the files are at the hotel and Frisco has copies," Anna added.
"Don't you think that it's about time we got outta here?" Luke asked. Alex and Anna looked at each other and nodded.
"There's nothing here," Anna said. The five adults turned and ran out of the house. They were no than one hundred feet away from the cabin when the bomb went off sending them all flying into the woods.

~~~
Cesar Faison was chained up and led to a waiting van outside the PCPD. He glanced at one of the guards who nodded once. Faison smiled and got into the van. Ten minutes later the van pulled away from the PCPD and took a sidetrip to the catacombs. The guard released Faison.
"There is a jet at the airport waiting for you, sir," the guard said.
"Very well," Faison replied walking towards the car waiting for him. Faison smiled as he reclined in his seat in the limo. Soon, everything would be his.
