Special Poems

I have created this web page as a tribute to my beautiful son, Kevin, on the one year anniversary of his death.
Kevin was a bright, active, 12 year old boy.  He enjoyed computer games, music, skating, football, baseball, playing with his brother Johnathan, and his many cousins and friends, and, ofcourse, his girlfriend, Lori Carver.
On May 23, 1999, while visiting at his grandfather's house, in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, Kevin's life ended.  He had been out in the canoe on the lake that his grandfather lived on.  It is still a bit unclear exactly how it happened.  (Not to mention that everything around that time is a big blur.)  It is my understanding that while playing on a sandbar in the middle of the lake, the canoe drifted away.  Kevin attempted to swim out to retreive the canoe.  He simply got too tired, and was unable to make it back to shallower water.
My husband, younger son, and I were all at our home in Walterboro, South Carolina when the news came.  Initially, there was hope that he would be rescued.  However, when I arrived at the scene, I was informed that it had been too long.  The rescuers had not yet located his body, but it had been close to 90 minutes since he went down.  It took nearly 6 hours to locate his body.  The emotions are still too much to describe.

Just a few links that are important to us.
