you will need a cauldron, or black pot with lid
a black volive candle
mistletoe
holly
green candle
Begin before dawn
Cast the circle and say-
"From the darkness is born the light, from void, fulfillment emerges
This, the darkest night of the year's threshold .Open now the doors and honor the darkness"
Take the lid off the cauldron, light the black volive candle inside.Offer a prayer to the Holly King,ruler of the dark half of the year.
Invoke the elements
Contemplate the darkness and the need for winter.
then say-Dark my surroundings, and cold be this night
but thy labour,Blessed Mother has reborn the Sacred Light, The Child Divine.
The most honored Sun shall return with the sunrise again.
Two will be one
present the Holly to each of the four corners/elements in a widdershin motion
finally, place the holly behind you to show the Holly Kings death.
bring out the mistletoe, present it to the elements in a deosil direction.
place it and the green candle on your alter.
Light the green candle from the black one and say-
Behold! the rebirth of the King of the Woodlands!
Behold the Oak King, strong and vital he arises!
snuff out the black candle and say-
Awake now, thy Mother,Thy Lover, Thy Queen-Awake now Thy Goddess of Life, Death and Rebirth
Light the Goddess candle with the green candle.Say-
All hail the Oak King, his rebirth:a promise
All hail the Divine Child, Giver of Life
All hail the Blessed Sun, reborn of the Mother.
For he retakes his throne at the end of Solstice Night
