·        Modem to call up the BBS, send and receive data

·        Telephone lines as the transmission medium

·        Host computer stores messages

·        BBS software needed for communication and maintance

·        System operator (SysOp) who sets up and maintains the BBS

 

Bulletin boards allow an organisation to share files. They allow an organisation to communicate with its employees at any time and are inexpensive.

 

Some BBS are free and some have a monthly charge.
