6. Can you give us any interesting anecdotes that happened during the production of Fathom and other titles?
OH my gosh. I could give you a thousand. Most of them shouldn't see print though. I love the one where Michael disappeared for a couple days when he was supposed to be drawing Fathom and then showed up one day with a gift for me...a really silly two foot high bank of the Tazmanian devil in plaster of paris. He was so excited to give it to me, he didn't realize that he had just TOTALLY turned himself in. He just thought I would forgive him for not drawing if he brought me a gift. But I took one look at him and said "You went to Tiajuana didn't you?" Busted! I've never seen anything that silly outside of Tiajuana. So its a late bank now. People with late pages have to give me a dollar a page. So it actually backfired on him twice. He's the worst offender for late pages!
7. What do you think of the way today's artists portray girls with big boobs and long legs?
I think women who obsess about that are silly. I mean have you looked at comic book MEN lately? They have a shoulder waist ratio of about 3 to 1 and little peanut heads. Yeah, I'm completely in love Ian Nottingham on the page. But if I actually saw him walking down the street I'd run! He'd be a freak! Comic book characters are charicatures. They're exaggerated. Its pretend. The fact is, that most men don't really want some woman that looks like a freak. The WOMEN are the one's I find that fixate on it.
I think its really silly. I would NOT want to look like Vampirella. I mean she's pretty in print but for the real world...eh. Its been said that beauty is really perfection flirting with ugliness and I believe that. Yeah, Casper Van Diem and Denise Richards are aesthetically easy on the eyes but I don't really find them to be interesting or even sexy. They're TOO pretty. Maybe I have an askew view of beauty but I think there are more appealing people than the ones that are like Barbie dolls. Bleh. I think character is much more attractive than boobs or a giant cod piece. So I guess it doesn't really strike me. Plus, I think men should complain about the way men are drawn as well. Its really unfair to both genders so what's the fuss? I don't really WANT to look at plain people when I'm reading comic books. That's WHY I'm reading comic books.
Women themselves have body issues that make them overly sensitive. If you're happy with YOUR OWN body you don't really give a crap what some picture looks like right? And if your worried that your boyfriend has an unrealistic attitude about women, who wants him? If he likes women only for their chest size, kick him to the curb! He's an idiot. I love beautiful men but they're never the ones I FALL in love with. Isn't that the important thing?
So there. I DO have strong feelings about it. But I've already spent too much time on my soap box...
8. Who is your favorite cartoon/comic character and why? artist?
Wonder Woman. I always wanted to BE her. Artist...well, for as much crap as he gives me, I think Dave Finch is the most talented human being I've ever met. There is nothing that he doesn't excel at...except not getting bored with things once he becomes great at them! Its frustrating. He awes people and then moves on. Arghh. Just when you really wanted to see more!
