Shared borders are borders that are "shared" on many or all pages. Anything you put inside of these borders will show up on all pages that have these shared borders. On this page the Top, Left and Bottom borders are shared so, anything that is in them shows up on all pages and are formatted by the sites "Theme" to look and act the same. The Navigation links on the left and bottom show on all pages that are linked and the banner at the top shows on all pages with the page title as a header.
