The Series 2 release in 1997 saw the first 'Mare and Foal' sets available for sale. There were eight of those sets. The breeds used were 'Appaloosa', 'Pinto', 'Arabian', 'Quarter Horse', 'Mustang', 'Belgian', 'Percheron' and 'Morgan'. Six new breed sets were also released. Two of these sets included all-new molds of horses (The 'Draft Horse' set included a trotting stallion, a pulling stallion, a draft foal and a standing mare. The 'Morgan' set included a trotting mare, a trotting colt, a jumping down mare and a high trotting stallion).

Five new playsets were also added. These were the 'Pretty Pastures' set, with two horses and a mini stable; the 'Grand Prix II Playset', with three new jumps and one horse; the 'Dressage Playset', with a dressage arena and letter pylons, a jump and a horse; the 'Deluxe Stable Set', with an open-sided barn, four horses and lots of accessories, and the 'Showcase Arena Playset', which included four horses, a large stable, dressage arena, a jump and accessories.
