News 2003
November 29, 2003-Well it has been long over due for an update!  I don't even know where to start.  It may be a bit scattered.  As reported in the October 2003 issue of Interview and the November 2003 ArtNews, Jenny Saville has moved to Sicily, Italy.  So much for YBA!  Jenny is in a show called Art, Age and gender at the usher gallery till January 17, 2004.  I  was waiting for the catalogue "Migrants" to come out when a viewer of the website wrote to tell me that it was out of print.  I wrote the Gagosian gallery to find out if this was true and indeed "it was printed in a small run".  Well I am pissed because they told me it was coming out in a few weeks as did there press release state that there was going to be one and it never was made available.  Feel free to let the Gagosian gallery hear what you have to say.  Publish this for the masses not the rich!  What else...I guess I just need to work on the publications section because there is a bunch of stuff that people have been mailing me which is awesome!  It makes my life easier because I just don't have the time to do the research anymore.

June 7, 2003-I love days like this.  I found two new paintings by Jenny Saville.  The first is called "
Nats" circa 1992.  It is going up for Auction at Christie's on June 26 in London.  (Est. value 250,000-350,000 British Pounds)  The second, "untitled" circa 1990.  This one is going up for auction on June 25 at Sotheby's in London.  (Est. value 300,000-400,000 British Pounds.)  "Nat" appears to be a preliminary painting for propped 1992.  Almost the same pose and props, as well as a similar gray wash back ground but, minus the text in it.  "Untitled" looks more like "branded"  which was a sketch for "Branded".  A little different and much different feel but the same pose again.  I knew there were more paintings out there and if anyone else finds any please email me.

May 17, 2003-
Migrants was awesome.  It is nice to see some new work from Jenny.  It has been a long four years.  I did predict something untrue though.  I said that Host was going to be in the show which was untrue.  Instead a very similar piece called 'Suspension' was in the show which was almost identical to 'Host'.  That is was I get for reading to far into a press release!  So far I know that show was reviewed in the New York Times April 25, 2003 and ArtForum.com.

March 24, 2003-First for the British fans, The new Saatchi museum is opening up on April 17 in London.  I believe the first exhibtion is the Damian Hirst retrospective but there is at least one Jenny Saville on display in the permanent collection.  Let
me know if you are going or if you have gone.
Second, the press release was issued for the "Migrants" Show.  She is going to be exhibiting six pieces in total.  One of which is
Host which was shown in Ant Noises II at the old Saatchi Gallery in 2000.  It sounds like she is changing her imagery and her color palette.  We will just have to wait to see the out come.  The opening reception is April 5, 6-8pm.  Maybe we will see you there!

-March 10, 2003-Jenny Saville will be in an upcoming solo show in New York City at the Gagosian Gallery (Chelsea).  It is titled Migrants and will be on view from April 5 to May 3, 2003.  There is not a press release yet but look for it soon on the
Gagosian's web site.  It is good to finally hear some news in the world of Jenny Saville.
