| December 6 I am have been getting a lot of fake email addresses asking for information. If you want information I can send it to you but I cannot do it if I sit there and write out an email and send it to an address that does not exist. So if you wrote me asking for info and I did not write you back then this is probably the reason. I have saved the emails I originally sent, so email me again if you did not get a reply with a correct address. Sorry if this sounds mean but it is a waste of time for me. Sorry again. CRAIG -November25 In response to the September 7 news update, I found on the BBC radio website an interview with David Sylvester and he talks about how Jenny Saville is doing his portraitfor the National Portrait Gallery. As of December 3, 2000 he reported she was half done with it so if anyone out there knows if this painting is done, let me know. If you want to read the interview for yourself go to the BBC Site -November 18 "Cindy" sold at auction for $171,000 on November 15, 2001. Thats more then twice the estimate -November 6 A Jenny Saville piece is going up for auction again on November 15, 2001 in New York City. "Cindy" (21"x17") (Painted in 1993) is estimated to sell between 60,000 and 80,000 US Dollars. I thought Saatchi owned this piece but Christies is listing the provenance as the Paton Gallery in London. Who Knows? We will have to see how it does considering it is one of her lesser known works and it is a smaller piece. I hope a public institution picks it up so that people can get to see it. So many private collectors are getting her work that it is likely that we will not see the work for another ten years down the road or until it goes up for auction again. Any way congratulations to the winner of that auction, you're a lucky one in my book. -I am looking into two works of hers that I am really unfamiliar with. The first one is called "Factor 8". It was in the Critics Choice show at the Cooling gallery, London. The title was mentioned in a review of the show. The second piece I am interested in learning more about is a commission that Jenny Saville did for a Mr. John Rae in Falkirk. The canvas she painted was 7 ft.x 5 ft. If anyone knows of this piece or knows John Rae (I think he is a photographer) please get in touch with me. I guess the only other pieces I am looking for are some from the Barnett Collection. There were a lot of her pieces in this show,"Oils and sketches." I am assuming that Barnett bought them at the degree show in 1992. If anyone saw this show at Langside Galleries in Glasgow then please contact me. I would Love to know if there was a catalog or not. Well that is what I am looking for. In case you are wondering, I am also looking for any and all Jenny Saville works and trying to build an Image catalog of it. So if you have any images that I do not have please send them to me. Best wishes to your studies. -October 25 Jenny Saville is in another group show in New York called "Naked since 1950". I saw it yesterday and it is a really good show. Her piece, Brace, that was in the Gagosian show was in it. The show is at C&M Arts, 45 East 78th Street (Between Park and Madison). The show is up till December 8, 2001. If you are in the area I would suggest checking it out. -The other thing I wanted to point out is that I am not Jenny Saville. I am just a fan who put this up so I don't want people to think that this is my work (though I love it, I am not about to take credit for it) and I cannot answer questions directed towards her. I will try to answer other questions regarding the site or specific questions relating to her, but I cannot conduct interviews for her. The other thing is I don't have "more" information for you. There is not much on the Internet about her and this was why I built this page. I simply took everything I found on the Internet and put it into one place. If you were looking for information on her I would look at the bibliography page. There, I listed almost every article and book on her. There are a few more but they tend to just mention her name. I would go to the library and try to look them up or if your school has Lexis Nexis I would use that. Lexis Nexis is a computer program/web based index of newspaper articles. You can read the complete articles on the computer or print them out but you have to subscribe to it and it is expensive, so sometimes schools will have an account with them and your life can be made easier. -Finally, I wanted to apologize to people who have had experiences with the web site being shut down. This is a free account and I am only allowed 3 gigabytes of data transfer per month (I am not a web page wizard so I have no idea what that means). Basically if too many people are on the site and looking at all the images at the same time then Geocities has to shut it down. I could pay for more data transfer but I am a student and I don't have the money to do so. So if you run into problems I want to apologize in advance. Sorry for the inconvenience and thank you everyone who is checking out the site. Good luck with all of your papers. |
