By: ???

Mason Short advanced to the 2001 U.S. Kids Golf World Championship by winning the 7 year old age group in the Maryland Qualifying Tournament held on Wednesday, 27 June at the Bowie Country Club. He will represent Maryland along with nine other age group winners at the 2nd Annual U.S. Kids Golf World Championship that will be held August 3-5, 2001 at Jekyll Island Golf Resort, Jekyll Island, Georgia. The championship is a nationally televised event that features kids from all over the country and around the world. Kids compete, by age group, in a three-day event (one-day skills competition and two-day tournament) for boys and girls age 12 and under. State Champions compete in individual stroke play competition for team and individual awards. Mason will be representing not only the Maryland All-Star Team, but his home course, NAS Pax River, and the Cedar Point Junior Golf Association.
