As soon as you get the assignment--READ IT! Read it carefully and thoroughly. Ask the instructor questions in class. Be sure you know what length is required, if there is a specific format, etc. The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's Writing Center has a very good handout on this subject called Reading the Assignment October 18, 2000. <http://www.unc.edu/depts/wcweb/handouts/readassign.html> (accessed 12/14/01).
Created by Christina Kirk Pikas as a final project for LBSC 750: Information Access in Electronic Environments at the University of Maryland College of Information Studies.
