Over
a decade of professional life I have tried to understand
customer's requirements, feed back my understanding of their
problems, and design solutions to meet their needs.
In that time I have worked as a test engineer, a design
engineer (HW & SW), a systems architect, and a customer
engineer.
My
career started as an intern electronics engineer at IBM and
advanced to a full-time position with Raytheon E-Systems.
At E-Systems I developed both digital signal processing
hardware and software for intelligence/surveillance systems. From E-Systems I moved to Nortel Networks where I worked both
as a designer of cellular systems and as an advisor in a group
providing regulatory/business solutions.
I have cultivated a
broad skill set by accepting positions in both hardware and
software development. I
am as comfortable designing digital logic (algorithmic logic
and functional state machines using CAD or an HDL) as I am
writing software to control it (application layer and some
embedded). This complementary design experience helps me to draw out
ideas from the team and often bridge gaps between individual
perspectives.
I am therefore seeking a
position in a systems design (definition/architecture) group.
I target this position with the understanding that I may be
asked to complete design assignments before given an
opportunity to lead the definition of the next-gen platform,
and I am happy to apply my development skills (HW or SW) as
appropriate.
