Artist: The Flaming Lips Album: Fight Test {2003} |
The test begins now I thought I was smart, I thought I was right I thought it better not to fight I thought there was a virtue in always being cool So it came time to fight I thought I'll just step aside And that time would prove you wrong And that you would be the fool I don't know where the sunbeams end and The starlights begin, it's all a mystery Oh, to fight is to defend If it's not now than tell me when Would be the time that you would stand up and be a man For to lose I could accept But to surrender I just wept And regretted this moment Oh, that I, I was the fool I don't know where the sunbeams end and The starlights begin, it's all a mystery And I don't know how a man decides What's right for his own life, it's all a mystery Cos I'm a man, not a boy And there are things you can't avoid You have to face them when you're not prepared to face them If I could, I would But you're with him now, it'd do no good I should have fought him but instead I let him I let him take it I don't know where the sunbeams end and The starlights begin, it's all a mystery And I don't know how a man decides What's right for his own life, it's all a mystery I don't know where the sunbeams end and The starlights begin, it's all a mystery And I don't know how a man decides What's right for his own life, it's all a mystery I don't know where the sunbeams end and The starlights begin, it's all a mystery Mystery The test is over nowBack to Song List

Your hands on the wheel, let the golden age begin Window down, feel the moonlight on your skin Desert wind cool your aching head The weight of the world drift away instead Get by and I dont even tryBack to Song List
I want you to know he's not coming back Look into my eyes, he's not coming back So, knives out, catch the mouse Throw it down, shove it in your mouth If you'd been a dog They'd only want to drown you bad Look into my eyes It's the only way I'm gonna tell the truth So, knives out, catch the mouse Throw it down, shove it in your mouthBack to Song List
One, two, three, four Do you realize Do you realize Do you realize Do you realize Do you realize Do you realize Do you realize that you have the most beautiful face Do you realize we're floating in space Do you realize that happiness makes you cry Do you realize that everyone you know someday will die And instead of saying all of your goodbyes Let them know you realize that life goes fast It's hard to make the good things last You realize the sun doesn't go down It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round Do you realize Do you realize that everyone you know someday will die And instead of saying all of your goodbyes Let them know you realize that life goes fast It's hard to make the good things last You realize the sun doesn't go down It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round Spinning round Do you realize Spinning round Spinning round Do you realize Do you realize that you have the most beautiful face Do you realize we're floating in space Do you realize that happiness makes you cry Do you realize that everyone you know someday will die And instead of saying all of your goodbyes Let them know you realize that life goes fast It's hard to make the good things last You realize the sun doesn't go down It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round Do you realize Do you realize that everyone you know someday will die And instead of saying all of your goodbyes Let them know you realize that life goes fast It's hard to make the good things last You realize the sun doesn't go down It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round Spinning round Do you realize Spinning round Do you realize Spinning roundBack to Song List
Given the hopeless nature of our times And how it would change things And given the circumstances of our lives You'd done the same thing You'd done the same thing You'd done the same So, if we're talking about forgiveness Well, don't put me up above you Cos in the strange design of conscience We are controlled by our desires That can never be realized That can never be realized That can never be real And given the hopeless nature of our times And how it would change things And given the circumstances of our lives You'd done the same thing You'd done the same thing You'd done the same You'd have done the sameBack to Song List
Let me tell you a story about a very special gift I received from a, from a man that i didn't know very well But he brightened up the night and made it one of the great shining moments of our long tour It goes like this Backstage in Detroit and the room is full of smoke and apprehension We'd been playing shows as the warm-up and the band for Beck Hansen In walks Jack and says, "How'd ya do?" Then he handed me this wonderful statue And I said, "Thank you Jack White for the fiber-optic Jesus that you gave me It shined so bright that I couldn't help believin' it would save me." When I finally got it home My whole neighborhood was a-glow And I said, "Thank you Jack White for the fiber-optic Jesus that you gave me." Here comes the Oh, yeah Jack and Meg are funny, they got a modern backwards librel family code Brother and sister, playing rock and roll and doing it on the road I bet that van begin to stink Then I wonder, oh, what Christ would think I said, "Thank you Jack White for the fiber-optic Jesus that you gave me It shined so bright that I couldn't help believin' it would save me." When I finally got it home My whole neighborhood was a-glow And I said, "Thank you Jack White for the fiber-optic Jesus that you gave me." Nice oneBack to Song List
