Drowned
Right, this song is called Drowned

There are men high up there fishing, haven't seen quite enough of the world
But I ain't seen a sign of my hero and I'm still diving down for pearls
Let me flow into the ocean, let me get back to the sea
Let me be stormy and let me be calm - let the tide in, rush over me

I'm flowing under bridges and flying through the sky
I'm travelling down cold metal, I'm just a tear in baby's eye
Let me flow into the ocean, let me get back to the sea
Let me be stormy and let me be calm - let the tide in, set me free

I am not the actor, this can't be the scene
But I am in the water as far as I can see

I wanna drown, yeah
I wanna drown, I wanna drown in your cool, cool, cool, cool water
I wanna drown in your sweet, sweet love, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
I wanna drown, wanna drown, drown
Wanna drown, wanna drown, wanna drown, I wanna drown, I wanna drown
I wanna drown, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Ooh, take me down, take me down

I'm remembering different memories, recalling other names
Rippling over canyons and I'm boiling in the train

Let me flow into the ocean, let me get back to the sea
Let me be stormy and let me be calm - let the tide in, rush over me
I wanna drown

I wanna drown, yeah, yeah, yeah
I wanna drown in your sweet, sweet love

Thank you

The Seeker
Looked under chairs, I've looked under tables
I try to find the key to fifty million fables
They call me The Seeker
I've been searching low and high
I won't get what I'm after till the day I die

I asked Bobby Dylan, I asked the Beatles
I asked Timothy Leary but he couldn't help me either
They call me The Seeker, oh yeah
I've been looking low and high
I won't get what I'm after till the day I truly die

People tend to hate me cos I never smile
As I ransack their homes they wanna shake my hand
Im focusing on nowhere, investigating miles
I'm a Seeker, I'm a really desperate man

I'm looking for me, you're looking for you
We're looking at each other and we don't know what to do
They call me The Seeker
I've been searching low and high, yeah
I won't get what I'm after till the day I die

I learned how to raise my voice in anger
Yeah, but look at my face, now, ain't this a smile
I'm happy when life's good, when it's bad I cry
I got values but I don't know how or why

I'm looking for me, you're looking for you
We're looking at each other and we don't know what to do
They call me The Seeker, ooh yeah
I've been searching low and high
I won't get what I'm after till the day I die
I won't get what I'm after till the day I truly die, yeah, yeah

The Ferryman
You think we could do the river song now
Cos I've bust a string on the other one

This is a song that Raph and I just rehearsed this afternoon and it's, uh
A song that I wrote originally for a play that was done here about Siddhartha
And, uh, written by Ken Graham and he asked me to write a song about
The moment at which the, The Ferryman, who is
Turns out to be Siddhartha's master, hands over the job of doing
You know, punting the ferry from side to side
Because it's the river that is the teacher
And the, the actual path is the ferry and so on and so forth
And this is the, uh, the song about the actual moment
At which Siddhartha finally finds his true master, The Ferryman
And, and the, uh, the job is handed over

The river is always flowing relentless towards the tide
It travels down to the ocean while we watch on the water side
The water is my teacher - sometimes powerful, sometimes weak
Never changing in direction, carrying mountains down to the sea

I'll take you over, I don't want your money
Just hang on tight till we reach the shore
Kings and beggars, they all cling to my ankle
The foam blows white while the currents roar, yeah

God fill this gutter that breaks my shoulder
Grind me to dust, wash me to mud
Smash me to pieces, set me to smolder
Let me dissolve in your awesome flood, yeah

The river is always flowing, but I'm free now from it's race
I'll be swept down to the ocean and now you, you will take my place

A Little Is Enough
They say that love often passes in a second
And you can never catch it up
But I'm hanging on to you as though eternity beckon
It's clear that the match is rough
Common sense'd tell me not to try and continue
But I'm after a piece of the diamond in you
So keep an eye open, my spirit ain't broken
Your love's so incredible, your body so edible
You give me an overdose of love
That just a little is enough

I'm like a connoisseur of champagne cognac
The perfume nearly beats the taste
I eat an oyster and I feel the contact
But more than one would be a waste
Some people want an endless line that's true
But all I have to have's a little time with you
A smile sets me reeling, a kiss feel like stealing
Your love is like heroin, this addict is mellowing
I can't pretend that I'm tough, no, no, no, no
Just a little is enough

Just a little is enough, is enough, is enough
Just a little of your love is enough, is enough
Just a little of your love
A little is enough

Just like a sailor heading into the sea
There's a gale blowing in my face
The high winds scare me but I need the breeze
I can't head for any other place
Life would seem so easy on the other tack
But even a hurricane won't turn me back
You might be an island on the distant horizon
But the little I see is heaven to me
And I don't care if the ocean gets rough
A little is enough

Just a little is enough
Little of your sweet, sweet love is enough for a fool like me

Common sense'd tell me not to try and continue
But I'm after a piece of that diamond in you
So keep an eye open, my spirit ain't broken
Your love's so incredible, your body so edible
You give me an overdose of love
A little is enough

A little is enough, a little is enough, a little is enough

Sleeping Dog
Sleeping dog by the open fire
You're sleeping your life away
You don't know how far you've got to go
Or the trouble that you'll have to face
And all I can do is love you, provide you with some fun and food
All I can do is love you and that is what I do

Sleeping children laying in your beds
Tomorrow you'll be back at school
You look so young, but you've come so far
You'll never be any soul's fool
All I can do is love you, provide you with some fun and food
All I can do is love you and that is what I do

All I can do is love you, provide you with some fun and food
All I can do is love you and that is what I do

Now I'm going up to my wife
Baba, I pray to you
Love me just a little like I love them
And I can do some sleeping, too
All I can do is love you, provide you with a song
All I can do is love you like you've love me all along
All I can do is love you, provide you with a verse or two
All I can do is love you and that is what I do

Bargain
I'd like to start with a song which is, uh, about how, uh
The Godman's love, the master's love
Is the most precious thing that you can find
But somehow, although it takes you a lifetime, or a number of lifetimes
To find, it's still, strangely enough, the easiest thing
The cheapest thing, the simplest thing to find, to, to get
Just as long as you know how and I called it a Bargain

I'd gladly lose me to find you
I'd gladly give up all I had
To find you I'd suffer anything and be glad
I'd pay any price just to get you
I'd work all my life and I will
To win you I'd stand naked, stoned and stabbed

I'd call that a bargain, the best I ever had
The best I ever had

I gladly lose me to find you
Gladly give up all I got
To catch you I'm gonna run and never stop
I pay any price just to win you
Surrender my good life for bad
To find you I'm gonna drown an unsung man

I'd call that a bargain, the best I ever had
The best I ever had

I sit looking round, I look at my face in the mirror
I know I'm worth nothing without you
But like one and one don't make two - one and one make one
And I'm looking for that free ride to me, I'm looking for you, oh yeah

I'd gladly lose me to find you
I'd gladly give up all I had
To find you I'd suffer anything and be glad
Pay any price just to win you
I'd work all my life and I will
To win you I'd stand naked, stoned and stabbed

I'd call that a bargain, the best I ever had
The best I ever had

I think that's about all I'm gonna do before I change that string
I was only gonna do another five minutes anyway, so if we break for some tea
And then I'll fix the string and do a little bit before Raphael performs
Not only is he a brilliant harpist, but he's also a fine piano player
And his composition, his own composition, is equally fasinating on the piano
Because a lot of the writing has the chromatic feel of the, of the harp
And if you enjoyed what he did on the harp
I'm sure you'll enjoy his piano playing
And I'll do a few more pieces after the break
And then a piano performance from Raph
And we'll finish off together for the Parvardigar prayer
So if we break for tea now, I'll do some roady work

Tattoo
This is off the cuff, if it goes wrong blame the cuff

Uh, John Holder, who is a poet, writes his own poems
And occasionally he calls things that he writes discovered poems
Things that other people have written
That he has unearthed and realized are poems

Well, I've got what I call a discovered Baba song
I only heard about Meher Baba in 1967
I'd written quite a lot of songs before I ever heard of him
And this is one that I felt is particularly apt as a Baba song
It's about, uh, kids, uh, really having, uh, the need to
Something that makes them, well, boys, mainly, uh - men, uh
And in this particular case it's not what you think, it's a Tattoo
And, uh, I suddenly realized that if you transpose the tattoo into
As it were, the, the inner self, you had a pretty good, you know
Well, you can judge for yourself

Me and my brother were talking to each other
Bout what makes a man a man
Was it brain or brawn or the month you were born
We just couldn't understand
Our old man didn't like our appearance
He said that only women wear long hair

So me and my brother borrowed money from mother
We knew what we had to do
We went downstairs past the barber and gymnasium
And got our arms tattooed

Welcome to my life tattoo
I'm a man now, thanks to you
I expect I'll regret you
But the skin-graft man won't get you
You're there till I die - tattoo

Now I'm older, I'm tattooed all over
My wife is tattooed too
A-roody-to-to
Rooty-tooty-tadoo
Rooty-tooty-to
Tattoo too, to you

Let My Love Open The Door
When people keep repeating
That you'll never fall in love
When everybody keeps retreating
But you can't seem to get enough

Let my love open the door, let my love open the door
Let my love open the door to your heart

When everything feels all over
And everybody seems unkind
I give you a four leaf clover
I take all the worry out of your mind

Let my love open the door, let my love open the door
Let my love open the door to your heart, to your heart

I have the only key to your heart
I can stop you falling apart
Try today, you'll find this way
Come on and give me a chance to say
Let my love open the door
It's all I'm living for
Release yourself from misery
There's only one thing gonna set you free
That's my love, that's my love, that's my love, that's my love

Open the door, let my love open the door
Let my love open the door, let my love open the door

When tragedy befalls you
Don't let it bring you down
Love can kill your problem
You're so lucky I'm around

Let my love open the door, let my love open the door
Let my love open the door to your heart
To your heart, to your heart, to your heart

O'Parvardigar
I'd just like to say, before we start
Because, uh, obviously have to whip off fairly quickly once it's over
Uh, you know, thank you very much and, uh
It's, it's been our honor - I can assure you

For those of you that aren't familiar with, uh, with Meher Baba
That have just come for the music tonight
The Parvardigar prayer is a prayer which Meher Baba dictated
In praise of, not himself or anything as finite as Meher Baba
In the physical form, but the all aspects of God in every shape
And this is a universal prayer which, uh, he dictated for us
So that when, uh, we're singing our praise of God
We don't keep it limited to this one or that one or that shape or that shape
But it's just completely open-ended
This one covers the lot

O Parvardigar, the Preserver and Protector of all
Without beginning are you Lord, without end
Non-Jual, beyond compare and none can measure You
Without color, expression, nor form, nor attributes to lend

You are unlimited and none can plumb your depth
Imperishable beyond conception by our minds
None can divide you, oh God, you are eternal
None can see you but with eyes divine

You always were and always are and always will be
You are everywhere, in everything and beyond
In the firmament above and in the deep
On all the seven planes and farther on
In all thats hidden to our eyes, in all we see

Beyond the trinity of worlds and in them all
You can not be perceived, on no one shall depend
O Parvardigar, preserve protect us all
Without beginning are you Lord, without end

You always were and always are and always will be
You are the Creator, the Lord of Lords
The knower of all minds and hearts
Omnipotent, omnipresent, from all you tower
You are knowledge, infinite bliss, infinite power

You are the ocean of knowledge, knowing all
Infinitely knowing, you can but tell
The knower of the past, the present and future
Crowning even this, youre knowledge itself

Oh, merciful benevolence eternal
You are the trinity of knowledge, truth and bliss
The knower of the past, the present and future
The soul of souls, the ocean of love we miss

You always were, You always are and always will be
You are the Ancient One, the Highest of the High
You are Prabhu and Parameshwar
Beyond God, beyond, beyond God are you
Parabrahma, Elahi and Allah
Yazdan, Ahuramazda, God almighty and God the Beloved

O Parvardigar, the Preserver and Protector of all
Without beginning are you Lord, without end
You are named Ezad, the only one worthy of worship
We sing the universal prayer to you amen, amen

Jai Baba, good night
