Swords We Can Buy
There are quite a few Highlander Swords available on the market. However, there are also alot of frauds for sale. The swords below are the swords used for the movies and series, or are reasonable likenesses of them. Not every sword is available for purchase. For example, no one makes General Katana's sword to my knowledge.
Clan Macleod Broadsword

The Clan Macleod Broadsword was featured in the Original Highlander movie. For years the only ones in existance were the ones used in the film. Then in 1996, I believe it was, Marto of Spain produced this sword for Highlander's tenth aniversary. It is a beautiful sword. The hilt is plated in .999 silver and the handle is very soft suede. The blade is mirror polished, but not sharp. This sword sells for around $300, and is worth every penny. This sword can currently be bought from The Official Highlander Website and The Noble Collection
Kurgan's Broadsword

This sword has only recently become available. There are two versions that I know of. One of them has been designed by Paul Chen. These are usually auctioned off at eBay for rather high prices. The sword is a modest copy of the sword from the movie. The hilt is stainless steel and features spring loaded blade catchers. The handle is covered in soft leather. The high polished blade is accented by a blood groove in the center. This sword usually goes for around $170 to $250 depending on where you buy it from. Currently this weapon is on sale at Cas Iberia, and By The Sword Inc.
Ian Macleod's Claymore

There is currently no sword for sale claiming to be the Series Claymore. The Official Highlander Website is selling Marto's very nice looking Claymores for $400. Anyone who ever watched the series knows that this is not the Claymore featured. Cas Iberia Has a few Claymores available that closely resemble the one featured in the series. The one I have chosen to picture here is Windlass Steelcrafts' Twisted Hilt Claymore. It is a great looking sword with a brass hilt and a battle ready blade. It does however come unsharpened. You can read more about this sword at Museum Replicas Limited's website. This sword will cost you $325 if ordered from Museum Replicas Limited. A small price for such a great sword.
Connor Macleod's Katana

This sword is one of the hardest to find. It is made in Toledo Spain by Marto. It comes with a red saya, with red and black sageo. The handle is faux ivory, which is just a fancy way of saying ABS plastic. The tsuba is gold plated and has a jagged look to it which makes it unique. This sword will cost you $300 and as far as I know it is currently only available from The Official Highlander Website.
Duncan Macleod's Katana

Despite what Highlander's merchandising department wants to call the Duncan Macleod katana, this is it. This is the Dragon Head Katana designed by Marto of Spain. They were the official supplier of the the series, and this is the sword they supplied. The sword is distinct from phonies by it's gold ring, and jewel-less facade. The tsuka, or handle, is Faux ivory, once again ABS plastic. However this sword can stand up to tremendous punishment and is an incredibly well built weapon. The saya is laquered black, and the tsuba is slightly thicker than the copy cat's. This sword will cost you around $190. You can purchase this sword at Tuscany Trading Co.'s website. As well as many others.
"Duncan Macleod Katana"

What the hell is this? Good question. I don't have a clue where they got the idea for this sword but it certainly is not the one used in the series. However many people own it. It is a beautiful sword, yet it has little to do with Highlander. The Handle is ABS and the scabbard is aluminum. This sword is hardly worth mentioning. It is a concoction of someones imagination. This sword will cost you $300 and can be purchased at The Official Highlander Website.
The Dark Magic Sword

This sword is a gothic masterpiece. It is perfectly suitable for hanging on your wall and looking at it. However, do not touch it. It breaks easily. A friend of mine bought one and dropped it in his yard snapping the handle in two at the end of the tang. The handle is ABS plastic, and the scabbard is aluminum. I do not know where or if this sword can still be purchased. I think it is no longer produced.
