President George W. Bush was elected in the closest election in U.S. history, yet he has pursued a bold agenda of strong national defense, lower taxes, and promoting an "ownership society" of personal responsibility.  His 2003 decision to overthrow the terrorist-supporting regime of Saddam Hussein remains his most controversial decision, and the unintended consequences of that decision are still open for debate.  It remains for future historians to determine whether Bush was visionary or foolhardy; it is too soon for us to tell.
History of the United States 11 (HOUSE) is college-preparatory survey class that focuses on the main themes of United States History, from "boats to Bush".  Rather than focusing on dates and names, this class emphasizes decisions made by human beings.  One of the most important lessons of history is that human nature is consistent, which bears out the Biblical truth that we are fallen creatures in need of God's redemption through our Savior, Jesus Christ.

In studying decisions,  we emphasize three motives that most frequently influence behavior:  power, economics, and ideology.  We also explore the multiple consequences of decisions.
