Katie Couric

A day after Katie Couric announced she was leaving for CBS, NBC has chosen Meredith Vieira as Katie's replacement on the "Today" show. Meredith Vieira is currently moderator of The View. She joined ABC news in 1993. It will be interesting to see how the chemistry is between Merideth and Matt Lauer. Katie will be missed for sure.

Beloved by millions, Katie Couric has become one of the most recognizable and popular television news personalities. She has been co-anchor of "The Today Show" since 1991.

Though her popularity has reached celebrity status it is perhaps her humanitarian efforts in the area of Colorectal Cancer that will deeply touch more lives.
She has made colon cancer her focus both in her work and in her personal life. She has launched a national campaign aimed at increasing awareness of the disease. The The National Colorectal Cancer Research Alliance (NCCRA) was established in 1999 by Couric, Lilly Tartikoff and the Entertainment Industry Foundation to end the threat of colon cancer through education, new research and regular medical screenings.
