Beloved by millions, Katie Couric has become one of the most recognizable and popular television news personalities. She has been co-anchor of NBC News' "The Today Show" since 1991, following earlier roles as the program's first national correspondent and substitute co-anchor. Couric joined NBC News in 1989. She has conducted a number of newsworthy interviews with leading national and international figures and celebrities and has hosted a number of prime-time programs and specials. During the summer of 1992, Couric co-hosted NBC's morning coverage of the Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain. Couric was named "Best in the Business" in 1993 by the Washington Journalism Review.

Couric began her career as a desk assistant for the ABC news bureau in Washington in 1979. In 1980, she joined CNN as an assignment editor. She moved to Atlanta as an associate producer for CNN and was named the producer of "Take Two," a two-hour news and information program. She later worked at WTVJ in Miami for three years. In 1990, Couric won an Emmy Award while working as a reporter for NBC's local station in Washington, D.C.
