A Global Studies major has been proposed by the literature department in hopes of filling the void left behind by World Literature. Still a work in progress, the Global Studies major is based upon a wide and diversified curriculum. According to Wilson Chen, Ph.D., the assistant professor of language and literature, the Global Studies curriculum "draws from a variety of disciplines and assumes that you need to draw from several disciplines to study culture in a global context."

The variety of disciplines covered in Global Studies may include literature, political science, history and anthropology. However, brining these subjects together into one major will take considerable effort by all of those involved. "Faculty members and students must be willing to cross disciplines to work together, which can be hard to do at a small school," said Chen.
