Persuasive Writing Portfolio Project

 

����������� The goal of this portfolio is to showcase your best persuasive essay and to examine the growth in your persuasive writing. Portfolios mean different things in different classes.For this project your portfolio will be a folder that includes the following items:

 

  1. Draft of your Angkor essay (5 points)
  2. Draft of your French colonization of Vietnam essay (5 points)
  3. Draft of your Ming Dynasty essay (5 points) (We will work on this in class over the next two weeks)
  4. Final Draft of the best of the three essays.Points will be assigned by meeting the criteria on the back of this page. (18 points)
  5. Reflection - one page about why you chose the essay that you did for the final draft.Use evidence from your three papers to explain why this one is better than the other two.Make at least four direct comparisons between the writing in your final essay and the writing in the other two essays. (9 points)
  6. Optional - For extra credit you can choose to write a final draft of a second essay.It will be assessed by the same criteria as the first final draft and will receive up to (8 points).

 

The total point value of this project will be 41 points and it will count as 30% of your quarter grade.This is meant to give you an opportunity to use the work that you have already done to raise your grade substantially.

 

����������� Take advantage of multiple drafts.Turn in the final draft to me before Friday November 4 and I will get it back to you with feedback.You can use that feedback to improve your score and turn it in again by the deadline November 10.

 

This is due Wednesday November 9th You will not receive any credit after November 10 since grades are closed and published on that day.Late work on November 10 will count 90% of the total grade.
