Corner Gas is a show about life in small town Saskatchewan, a reflection of the lives of any community on the borders of nowhere. Corner Gas first aired on January 22, 2004 with the arrival of Toronto city girl Lacey Burrows, proud new owner of the local cafe. The premier brought in a surprising 1.3 million viewers (surprising for a Canadian show) and never went below the million viewer mark in the first season.
Sometimes compared to Seinfeld, (click here to read my rant on why every show is like Seinfeld) Corner Gas is not so much about specifics, or following a chain of events that lead to a convential beginning, middle, end, but more interested in placing the characters in comical, real life situations. |
