darren mcgavin - actor from the 60's-70's. Played Carl Kolchak in the horror/comedy The Night Stalker and later in the short lived series Kolchak: The Night Stalker. In the episode All My Ex's, Lacey's ex fiance is mistaken for a fugitive stalking Lacey. Hank gives him the name Kolchak. McGavin also played Arthur Dales on The X-Files
dog river - a river in Mobile, Alabama.
lex luther - Superman's nemesis. In the episode Oh Baby Hank is trying to break into his own truck with a hanger after locking his keys inside, Davis watches and says he's "no Lex Luther".
loonie - a canadian dollar. The loonie replaced the paper dollar bill in 1990. It adopted the name loonie because it had a picture of a loon on it.
loon - a large aquatic bird native to the northern regions.
lottery, the - short story by Shirley Jackson about a small town lottery where the winner is the loser. In the episode All My Ex's Hank suggests as a way of scaring off Lacey's ex is to tell him that there is a lottery and the winner gets stoned to death. To which Wanada replies "I can't believe you read that storey" but Hank is clueless.
pilate, Pontius - governer of Judea. Was the man responsible for sentencing Jesus to death. In the episode Pilates Twist, Pilate is confused with Pilates the exercise several times.When asked why she didn't call her mat class Pilates class, Wanda said she didn't want people to mistake it for Pilate, "the man who killed Jesus"
pilates, Joseph - (1880-1967) the man who created the exercise known as Pilates. In the episode Pilates Twist, Lacey decides to start her own pilates class to help overcome her fear of talking to groups of people.
stylomfort - describes a fashionable piece of clothing that is aslo comfortable.
trudeau, Pierre Elliot - canadian prime minister from 1968-1979 and 1980-1984. A high energy leader most remembered for his pirouette.In the episode World's Biggest Thing, Brent sarcastically refers to Hank as a young Trudeau.
vegreville - a town in Quebec, home to the world's biggest easter egg. Hank uses Vegreville as an example while pitching his idea to Brent about buiding the World's Biggest something in the episode World's Biggest Thing. Vegreville was also the password to the computer in the medical research facility in The X-Files episode Memento Mori.
