Loretta is a young girl who likes to explore. She's a bit mischievous as well. One winter she discovers ladybugs and what they can do for her garden, come the spring. Well of course, Loretta has to save all the ladybugs she can find - for the good of her garden.

LADYBUGS FOR LORETTA is mostly appropriate for younger children, my five-year-old enjoyed cuddling as I read it to her. Some of the language is a bit 'old', but it didn't detract from the overall story, which is a sweet one revolving around Loretta's fascination with ladybugs. I thought the story ended too abruptly for the age group, but Ms. Wickstrom definitely has a talent for this genre.
