This story is about a girl who fell in love with ladybugs and went
to great lengths to protect them Loretta gathers the ladybugs up and takes
them home to her mother. Ladybugs for Loretta is an educational tool as well
as an entertaining story. It teaches the child that ladybugs are beneficial to
gardens and eat the bugs that would destroy a garden. The artwork is realistic
and beautiful~~~ I love the choice of red. I enjoyed the story. Shelby:
Loretta liked to play tricks, but they weren't bad ones. One winter she found
ladybugs and took them inside. That was a mistake, cause ladybugs wake up when
they are warm. Loretta & her mom put them in the refrigerator until
spring. And when the babies are born that have the opposite colors as the
parents. A ladybug is red with black spots and the babies are black with red
spots. Cool. And they go inside a cocoon just like caterpillars do!! I want to
read this one again!
