Korkscrew searches for a new drummer.

Due to a recent falling out with Vince, Korkscrew is in search of a new drummer. The band has stated they're "looking for someone who's got a bit of talent and a lot of heart, and a willingness to practise and play shows." They've been rumored to have another drummer in the works, time will tell.

Korkscrew gets opportunity to play Ottawa bars.

My father-in-law, Dave Schofield, who is also a lighting engineer/guru has offered to put Korkscrew up in his Ottawa home for an entire week. He's already spoken to several bar owners that are willing to book paying shows for Korkscrew. Hopefully we'll be able to build our songbase and stagetime up to around three hours. If we can build up 3 hours worth of material, there's good chances you'll see Korkscrew hit Ottawa by the end of summer.

Korkscrew set to record full length album with John Hughes at the engineering console.

We're going to start recording our full length album with John Hughes. It'll be a momentous event due to the fact John knows how to get the sound we're looking for. The new Korkscrew CD will be a blast to record, and a bigger blast to listen to. Hopefully you'll all enjoy listening to it as well. We should have a new MP3 up on the site soon, but only if you guys vote for the one you want to hear.

Korkscrew gets called in for Rockfest 2K3.

We'll be playing Rockfest this year. It's pretty big news, one of the big events of the Valley. Rockfest kicks off Apple Blossom Weekend and we'll be on the stage along with our friends from Malign. This ones gonna be a show to go down in the history books for all who participate. Special thanks to the AVR Network and those at Magic 94.9 FM who deemed Korkscrew suitable for Rockfest 2K3. The Korkscrew ARMY will rise again. We'll have t-shirts and CDs available at Rockfest 2K3.

Conception Sessions @ Mike Roger's Place

We found a sweet place to record. We started recording Conception of a Demo, we've started off with Ativan, the song is complete aside from the drums. I gotta say, the end result is far beyond what we were able to do in the Dungeon. Mike's got everything we need to record, right at his place. The sound on Ativan is fuckin amazing, now we only have to get the drums done on it. We're one step closer to having a CD, if you like the quality of Drowning and One Way Elevator on the IUMA site, ha ha, you ain't heard nothin' yet. Prepare yourselves for the next wave of Korkscrew....the CD. Our Demo will be complete before May 12th, the deadline for Rockfest entries and we'll have copies for sale at Rockfest.

Well, we've been scrambling to find a drummer, Vince has left. After missing a gig and a practise or two, we figure it's time to start looking again. We've practised with a few drummers, and will practise with a few more. Our big priority is finding some who's A) Talented B) Got his/her own kit C) Is under 26 years old. D) All of the above. We want to get a few songs recorded so we can enter Rockfest 2003, that's the reason our new drummer has to be under 26. The deadline for entries is May 12th, Rockfest is May 29th, or if it rains June 1st. It's a great opportunity for us to play to a big crowd on Apple Blossom Weekend. Wish us luck.

Korkscrew has a video producer/director/editor.

Korkscrew's Video Editor/DirectorBryan Pemberton, Video Editor/Director

Bryan Pemberton, being the kind man he is, has volunteered to edit, produce and direct our video(s). We're anxious to start work with him. Welcome to the Korkscrew family Bryan and thank you so much for helping out. Bryan will be taking clips that we've shot, that he and Erin have shot, clips that Mike and Gina shot, up in the trees, snow shots, and more, live videos and theatrical stuff and mixing it down to the finished product, Korkscrew Live Unkut. We're hoping to have a finished full production music video (the exact one we'll be sending much music) at the end of the tape.

Korkscrew has a new drummer.

Bozway has gone on to bigger, better things and will hopefully become Editor-in-Chief of Distortion Magazine, a local fanzine for local music, bands and the industry. The new drummer, Vince MacIssac should prove to be an asset to the band. Some of you'll get to see Vince play with us at the Private Party this Saturday.

Korkscrew's music will hit the rolling emerald hills of Ireland from March 10th to March 18th. Big news for us. Special thanks to all of the members of Circle for deeming us appropriate for their play and to Erin Pemberton for letting us know the good news.

It's been a while since I updated the page so i've been doing it constantly, little by little, molding it into a more user friendly site. I've added a comments page so you can let us know what ya think. Enough of the boring webpage shit and onto the real news. --- We've been constantly rising up the IUMA charts. We talked to Robert Morrison at Mpress, he's agreed to produce our T-shirts. They'll be top quality 10oz. fabric, we may have long sleeve shirts and hoodies done with him if we get a good response from our t-shirts. Rob Kehoe will be taking orders on t-shirts at the show this Saturday, so if you want one, make sure you get ahold of him, and give him your number. When our t-shirts are ready we'll call you. (P.S. all shirts will be signed by the band) We were supposed to do some recording yesterday with Scott Reuss but Jeff (drummer) had to work and was "too tired". Nonetheless we got in a good jam without him and wrote a really cool new song. Show up on Saturday and we may play it, either way we've got a lot of new ones we can't wait for you all to hear.

Korkscrew has started work on the Drowning Single. We've got about 90% of it half done. Rob redecorated "The Dungeon" and we modified it into a studio environment. The single should be available for sale as planned on February 14, 2003. Korkscrew has appropriately renamed the holiday to Valentunes Day!!! Mp3's can be downloaded or streamed off the IUMA Korkscrew site here.

Feb/04/2003

Korkscrew ranks #151 out of 16,000+ other artists on IUMA (Internet Underground Music Archive). 3 Days after the Hantsport show and Korkscrew hit an all time high on the charts, pretty soon you'll be sure to see them in the top 40 and maybe even #1.

Scott says, "This is a pretty big deal to us, out of all the talented artists out there today, we've hit #151 and we've only been together for a few gigs so far. We love our fans and owe it all to them! Maybe we'll hit the top 40 and even go as high as number one, we're just happy to be making music for people to enjoy."

js said "That's really cool but I gotta go back to sleep."

Jan/26/2003

Korkscrew has started filming shots for their first video, special thanks to Mike, Gina, and of course Rob for the use of the "Dungeon". They'll be adding some live shots of the band playing so make sure you're at their shows. Korkscrew will probably be looking for some actors/actresses for some of the "movie style" portions of their video. Nude female models accepted :)

Jan/23/2003

The band acquired their first P.A. system. The P.A. will give the band freedom to play small venues whenever they want. You can be sure to see Korkscrew playing live in your town/city real soon.

Sometime in August/2003

Korkscrew has decided to host a weekend long concert, called JamZilla 2003. We're looking for musical acts to fill 3 days worth of playing. Admission is $10 each for the whole weekend. There may even be a major act to close the festival, so bring your beer and papers....uh....newspapers......yeah.

This site is constantly being updated, please check back often.
