L'Hotel des INVALIDES
LIAM: The Invalides was a 17th century 'hotel' built by Louis XIV for returning soldiers from battle and veterans, hence the name 'Invalides'. It now houses an army musuem (Musee de l'Armee). Have to say that that has to be the only museum that I'd not recommend to anyone. Can see why they include a visit to Napoleon's tomb (within the Invalides) and an exhibition documenting the French Resistance in WWII. Anyways, Corinne and I visited all 3 of them. Napoleon's tomb was basically a big church with his body entombed in a big hole in the middle of it. The French Resistance exhibition wasn't too great either! I think the main problem for me is that in France, all site display explanations are all in French... making it hard for me to understand.

Next up: The Eiffel Tower!
I must admit, the exhibitions were not very interesting to me either - despite my love of museums. However, we did manage some wonderful pictures! The Invalides is well worth the visit for the architecture and some splendid pictures!
