MORE PICTURES, and then Rue Montmartre...
Salome with St. John-the-Baptist's head
I think I should explain why Liam took a photo of this painting on the left at my behest. I liked this painting a lot. Liam thought it rather morbid, especially since St. John-the-Baptist is my favourite saint, but this painting reminds me of a time, when I was little, of how angry I was at the frivolous nature of St. John's death.  Today, it is a constant reminder of how dangerous vanity can be.
Liam and I fell in love with this painting above immediately. Standing in front of it, we felt like we could step into the painting and walk down the corridors of the church. As the photographs later show, the ceilings of the Cathedral of Notre Dame and the parish church on Rue Montmartre (St. Eustace's) are very similar to that of the painting.
Finding the easiest way out of the Louvre...
LIAM: The Louvre also had an Egyptian section which was right at the end of one wing. It was impossible to get out off... kept walking round and round. Almost as if anyone left behind after closing would get fed to the mummies and the seemingly endless supply of sarcophagus!
Exhausted on the Metro after a day in the Louvre (we finally escaped)! Not a flattering picture but what the hey...

This is us (below) having super yummy crepes (cheese, ham and mushrooms!) we bought on the way back... what a way to end the day!
Rue Montmartre
All around: photographs of the parish church of Rue Montmartre. We went in search of artists and found none in the bitter cold. But we found a beautiful church and fell in love with it instead!
Left: Spot Liam! Above: Angel on wall surrounding altar.
AND ON TO THE INVALIDES...
