Entropy naturally exists in the world and causes the breakdown and decay of order. Quality is a property that goes against entropy. Leave something alone and it will fall apart and become disordered. Quality is seen when care is taken and energy is used to defy entropy and create order. Something which was lazily and sloppily created lacks quality. Something that was well planned out and carefully created reveals quality.
Quality, being a non-physical property, can be seen in many ways. Sometimes it can be seen as the visible (and physical) property known as beauty.
Beauty, being a visible reflection of quality, likewise is the defiance of entropy and a reflection of care and order. It shows a plan and the care taken in something's creation. Entropy is a fall toward complexity and randomness. Beauty reveals a simplicity, showing care in balance. For example, an object sloppily created is randomized and impractical in it's purpose due to entropy, but an object carefully and precisely created is simplified, often symmetrical, and practical in it's purpose due to quality. Yet, because entropy naturally exists in the world, quality is marked by it. Every smooth surface, simple and pure, becomes rough, complex and random. The face of youth becomes the face of wisdom. Beauty eventually fades...
Yet, there is a rebirth...
Beauty exists all around in the world, reflecting the care that The Creator put into this world of quality and beauty. Yet we have sinned, so there is entropy... But there are seasons; there is rebirth. A child falls to entropy only to bring another child into the world. A fallen sinner repents and is born again. Rebirth, renewing the earth and all creation, testifies that our God was not merely a creator who finished His work in seven days, long ago, but who lives and cares for His creation, offering rebirth now. Could, then, innocence be regained?
