Ramon Noguera

Ramon Noguera Ramon Noguera

Ramon Noguera was the Choir of the Municipal Music School of Berga's conductor between 1988 and 1998.

He was born in Puig-reig and began to song when he was seven years old already in the Puig-reig parochial choir. When he was fourteen he was admitted in the Schola Cantorum. His trajectory as choir conductor began with the "colla Joventut Sardanista" choir in year 1969, a choir that finally became the present Polifònica de Puig-reig. He has been its conductor since then.

His musical formation was initially self-taught and later academic. He received the firsts solfeggio lessons from Mn. Andreu Flat in year 1968 and in 1987 he homologated the courses in the Municipal Superior Music Conservatory of Barcelona. He was disciple of the maestro Manuel Oltra in his studies of harmony, counterpoint and musical forms. He also assisted in several choral conduction courses: in Manresa during 1969 by Lluís Virgili, in the Barcelona's Audicor during 1983 by Manuel Cabero and in Barcelona in 1994 by Eric Ericson.

In numerous occasions he has conducted choral works accompanied by orchestra, such as the "Dettingen Te Deum" and "the Messias" of G.F. Händel; the Cantata nº 142 of J.S. Bach; Masses Brevis KV 194, KV 258, "Missa Longa KV 262", and the "Requiem KV 626" of W.A.Mozart; "the Creation" of Joseph Haydn; the "Requiem" of Gabriel Fauré; "the Pessebre" of Pau Casals; and the "Requiem" of John Rutter. The times that he has conducted works for choir and cobla are innumerable. In addition, he has conducted the musical comedies "Jesus Christ Superstar", "Godspell", "A Chorus Line" and "Show Boat".

He often receives requests to conduct choral meetings. We can remark: "Recontres Internacionals a França" in 1987, 1988, and 1989, "Barcelona's International Choral Journey" in 1989, "Catalunya canta" in 1992 (in which he conducted 7.000 singers) and several FCEC (Catalonian Choirs Federation) meetings.

He has composed eight "sardanes", some for cobla and others for choir and cobla, a "Magnificat" for choir a cappella, some songs, several "Caramelles" waltzes and has made many choral adaptations of cinema and actuality themes.

He is also the Puig-reig parochial choir's conductor and was professor of the Municipal Music School of Berga for seven years.
