Coral de l'Escola Municipal de Música de Berga
The Choir of the Municipal Music School of Berga is formed of
almost thirty young singers and all of them are or have been
students of the music school.
The actual formation stablished as the Choir of the Municipal
Music School of Berga in 1987, when it was incorporated into the
structure of the music school. The roots of the choir remain in a
choir that should have the people old enough to not be part of
the children choir and young enough to not be part of the adult
choir.
The concerts of the choir do not include only traditional
catalan music but contemporaneous and classic pieces. During its
still young life, it has interpreted pieces as the Nocturns
of Mozart, the Cantata 142 of Bach, the Missa Brevis
in D of Mozart, the Dettingen Te Deum of Haendel,
the Requiem of Gabriel Faure, the Missa Longa in C
of Mozart, the Requiem of John Rutter, the Mass in D
of Dvorak, the Te Deum of John Rutter, the Missa
Brevis Sancti Joannis de Deo of Haydn, the Requiem
of Mozart, pieces from the Mattaus Passion of Bach, the
Coronation Mass KV 317 of Mozart and Sirventesos Berguedans
of Joan Lluís Moraleda.
The choir has taken part in the XIII and the XIV International
Choir Festival of Catalonia Center. In 1995, the choir
participated in the International Choir Contest-Festival of
Neuchatel (Switzerland) since it was one of the 15 elected choirs
among the 80 candidates. In the same year, the choir sang in the
XXX Choir Festival of Barcelona and in the Traditional Culture
Exhibition in Barcelona. Starting in 1991, the choir has
travelled all around europe and it has hosted groups from Spain,
Italy, Switzerland, Poland, Sweden and Israel. Furthermore, in
1998 it toured Europe through Italy, Switzerland, Austria,
Slovaquia and Poland.
