| 05/16/04 - BEST ACTOR (FOR A WHILE) I just got back from the 42nd Men's Tres Dias up on Namsan and I was incredibly blessed. I was sort of caught in a conundrum, because my brother had bought me a ticket to his Prom. Unfortunately, Prom was at the same time as the A***E, so I had to choose, and I really don't like making decisions. Eventually, I decided to let Ellis have my ticket and go up to the mountain. I don't know what would've happened if I kept the ticket, but I'm satisfied with the way things turned out. Nancy and I caught a bus up to Seoul, and a taxi up to the Retreat Center. I had some burritos and met all the new Vida teens. Let me see if I can remember them all: Nick, Lee, Richard, Rick, George, Melody, Katie, Justin, Chris, and J-Nice. Then there were the people I remembered: Boyd, Jennifer, and Minji. Finally, there was one very pleasant surprise: Catherine. I've talked to Catherine occasionally online and I was hoping that we would get a chance to meet up while I was in Korea. And that's where the Best Actor thing comes in. It was just kind of neat how things sort of came full circle. I was given two parts in the A***E: Muscles in "God's Reception Room" and the Guy in "Chair of Sin." Well, after I got the parts I assumed we were going to rehearse so I was just lazing around talking to people and hanging out when we started...haha, so I didn't get to rehearse. Well, Muscles went well, it all sort of came back to me, and then "Chair of Sin' started. So, I get stuck to the chair, my friends come and invite me to a party but I'm stuck so they leave, and then Catherine comes out. She (in character) says, "Hey, I was kind of hoping we could go to the party together because I heard you have a crush on me..." Flashback to 8th-10th grade: I have the BIGGEST crush on Catherine ever, but as everyone knows, I wasn't exactly the most socially conscience individual back then. As everyone (hopefully) knows, I've grown up since then. The funny thing is I felt like I delivered a really great (though very short) performance, but I doubt anyone else noticed it...which wouldn't be bad. Glory to God in all things. He blessed me and if I'm ever faced with another acting situation where I'm playing a character who can't get what he wants, I have the perfect memory for it. So, that was the highlight of my weekend, I need to sort of rework this whole website. Hopefully, I'll get around to it sometime soon, right, Mike? Take it easy, everyone! God bless! 05/09/04 - WE SAYING THE SAME THING LIKE A SYNONYM I've listened to "Dilated Peoples (ft. Kanye West) - This Way" probably a good 40-50 times since I've been back in Korea. I got back home this past Thursday night, but my surprise was well discovered by then. haha, probably due to a lack of planning on my part, but I'm glad to be back. James, I have a couple of really nice rhymes for that song we're going to do. Now, that I'm back I'm renoticing all those little things about Korea that I missed. I've been driving around in the Neon and the Jeep, getting some practice in and just feeling like an adult. It's about 2230, and I know that I can be a little less than eloquent at this hour, but what the heck. I don't have my mind made up on a lot of issues, like BIG issues: politics, sex, etc. So, that's something that I can work on. I'm at a really comfortable point in my life love-wise. I guess I'm finally not infatuated with anyone. I'm sincerely trying to enjoy myself and even though I would like a girlfriend, for the first time it's not a super-high priority. There are a lot of people that I'd like to thank for being patient with me. Most of them are girls that I really liked in high school, and that I would now really like to be friends with. Well, it is late...haha, well, not THAT late, but I've been pretty busy these days. Take it easy, everyone. God bless! 05/01/04 - uhhhhhhhhh... So, what's going on everybody? haha, wow, time warp. Anyways, I've just finished my 4th semester / 2nd year of college and I'm in VA for a limited time only. April 30 was a good night for me. The Pederson brothers had a party at James's crib, and I finally got a chance to have dinner with Mylynn. It was x-l-ent. So, I'm wondering if I'm actually going to stick with this webpage now, and I'm not going to make any promises or guarantees, but I'll give it a shot. Hey, I cleared out my guestbook so give her a sign. And holy goodness, Tom Fitzpatrick, you have the greatest and latest up to date information on people I haven't thought about in years, haha, so mad props to you and I'm not talking about the stage kind...I'm talking about the kind that cool people give each other. Take it easy, everyone. God bless! 10/19/03 - TIMES TO ENJOY... It's another Sunday in beautiful, sunny Florida. I'm not trying to make anyone jealous or anything, haha, I'm just trying to appreciate my surroundings. I went to church today. It was a sermon on Acts 28, and I really enjoy the preacher's sermons. He talked about evangelizing and using every person you meet as an opportunity to evangelize. My mom is the queen of evangelizing. I don't think that there's a person who has met her that didn't hear about her love for Christ and I think that's a great way to be and maybe something that I can shoot for. We went to Best Buy after church and I had another little mini shopping spree, haha. I bough a Game Boy Advance, Wario Ware, Michelle Branch - Hotel Paper, and Enrique Iglesias - Escape. It came out to around $150. I don't know why I'm such a spending monster these days. Hopefully, it's out of my system now. Another thing that I've been thinking about is how I think too much. So, I'm going to stop worrying about everything and I'm going to just try and live. This is maybe the millionth time I'm doing this, but I figure it's a leap of faith to just trust God with all aspects of your life, and while I'm good at giving up some aspects there are others that I can't bear to give up (reputation & relationships mostly.) Well, that's changing. So, pray for me! And I'll update in about a week. Oh, I watched Texas Chainsaw Massacre yesterday. No really big feelings about it, check it out if you want to...Take care, JESUS BLESS! 10/12/03 - TELL US WHO YOU ARE... It's approximately 0130 on a Sunday morning here at the humble abode of Messrs. James Pederson & David Sutton. Mike Rojko, Mike Kanno, and Maria are here for the weekend as well. Right now, they're making a run to Taco Bell and with this little bit of time I have, I figured I'd do an update on what's been going on here in Florida. Or at least, in the part of Florida that I inhabit. So, school's been going alright and I made it to every single on of my classes on time this week. I'm pretty happy with myself. I went to church last Sunday and I'm hoping to have a repeat of that this week. Wow...I have a paper due...just came to mind, but I saw the show that it has to be on, OF MICE & MEN. The show was fantastic. The two leads, my buddies Jack & Kevin, did a great job as Lennie & George. They messed me up pretty good at the end. If you don't know what happens at the end, well, let me say that it's sad and that I shed more than a few tears. We went and watched Quentin Tarantino's latest, KILL BILL VOL. 1. It was very entertaining. There were a lot of little things I liked about it, but it being 1 in the morning I don't feel compelled to point them out at this moment. I really want to be an actor. Anyways, the heading is something that's been on my mind a little lately, but then again I often spend too much time in my head. In the movie ANGER MANAGEMENT there's this scene where Jack Nicholson is talking to Adam Sandler and he asks him "who he is." So, Adam Sandler starts talking about various aspects of his life and gets shot down by Jack each and every time. It's really funny, but it's also true. I mean, to quote FIGHT CLUB, "You're not your job. You're not how much money you have in your bank. You're no the car you drive. You're not the contents of your wallets. You're not your <expletive deleted> khakis..." So, who am I? haha, it's certainly an intersting and meaningful question. And when I have the answer...well, I'll be the first to know, but my loved ones, basically the people reading this, will be the next. Well, take care of everybody. Good night & God bless. 10/06/03 - INTERNET IN MY ROOM? Yes, I finally have internet in my room. I'm not sure if that means I'll be updating more than usual, but I know that I've somewhat gotten used to not spending all my time online. Which is good habit, in my opinion. My goal for the week is something my Aunt Susie suggested: "Enjoy Yourself". Yes, I've been a bit uptight about a lot of things and now that everything is sort of resolved I'm finding it hard to get comfortable again. Or maybe I am comfortable I'm just not enjoying it. So, here's hoping I can get out of this rut. Even though I'm not sure what the rut is in the first place. Today, I slept in and went to class at noon (on time, of course). We performed our scene and I'm pretty proud because Ms. Monica Steele, the Scene Study teacher, didn't find much that really need to be done with my performance. She even gave me a compliment (having to do with my connection with the other actors). She's not big on compliments, so it's even better. After class, I went to the bookstore and did some reading. I left the bookstore and made it to my next class just in time. Theatre History. We talked about Japanese theatre, mostly Noh. I learned a lot of stuff I didn't "Noh" before. AHAHAHHA! That joke was almost too easy. I practiced some piano and called Rojko to see about going to James & Dave's place to watch the game. I wouldn't be back in time for tomorrow's class so that's a no-go. It's only 1930, so I'm not sure what I'm going to do tonight. I want to go watch "The Rundown". Or, I can hit the gym. Or, I can practice some guitar. Or I can read the new book I bought. We'll see what happens tonight. I just have to enjoy myself, try and see if you can't enjoy yourself, too. haha, God Bless! 09/20/03 - OH MY GOODNESS! HE'S STILL...STILL ALIVE!...? Well, haha, this is the second time I've taken a really long hiaitus...hiatius...hiatus from updating my webpage and now after another 4 months I'm finally back in action. Unfortunately, I can't guarantee that this will be as frequent as I'd like it to be. I can't update from the computer lab at my apartments and my room still doesn't have internet. So, I am currently updating from my good buddies James Pederson and David Sutton's house. Jason P. is sleeping on the bed behind me and Mike Rojko, Mike Elkins, and Maria Devin are watching a Howie Day DVD out in the living room. James is continuing is long term job at Pizza Hut and Dave is caught up in the craze known as Warcraft III: Frozen Throne. Life is so great, isn't it? School has been going on for about 3 weeks and I've only missed 2 classes, haha, which is a lot better than last year, but still short of perfection. I'll update my profile with my new class schedule. I have a lot of plans for this site, and maybe I can learn how to write html and it can be a real site, haha. Well, I can't think of much else to say for now, but I miss everyone and hope you are all doing well. Take care of yourselves! God Bless! 05/15/03 - OH MY GOODNESS! HE'S STILL ALIVE! Undoubtedly the heading is what you are saying to yourself as you read this, my first update in over two months. Well, I'm in Korea now, supplies supplies...that's supposed to be like surprise with an asian accent. I left Florida on May 3rd. I missed my first flight, haha, but caught a later one and arrived in Washington State that night and Laura Smith picked me up! I hung out with Laura for 3 days, I even got to fall asleep in her Calculus class once for good measure, then we drove to Bellevue where I stayed with Glen for 3 days. I didn't get to sleep in any of Glen's classes, but I did sleep in twice while he woke up diligently to go to class. Finally, I got to see Tabby, Ericka, Theresa, Chester, and Amy in Tacoma. We even ate midnight Denny's, my last Denny's meal before leaving for Korea. I'm hoping to provide a more detailed description of my week in Washington in a little segment that I shall call "My Week In Washington." And now that I actually have a computer, you can expect fewer large breaks in between updates. Tonight, I'm hoping to go watch Old School at the Base Movie Theater, and I'll update again this week. I hope you haven't been worried to much. Everyone reading this: You are in my prayers. I miss you a lot and take care of yourselves. And a REALLY BIG THANK YOU to all my friends in Washington! God Bless each and every one of you! |
