Science Fiction
In the summer before Star Wars episode one's release excitement was in the air. Sean and Brooks decided to take a break (a permanent one as it turns out) from the radio show to write a 30 minute short called "Science Fiction" (a play on "Pulp Fiction"). It centered around a cast of nerds (including Dirk and Stevie) and their surreal adventures while attempting to gain entry into a sneak preview of episode one. They then decided to shoot a trailer for the short to show at Dragoncon. The preproduction of this trailer was impressive. Brooks built props including blasters and lightsabers, Sean constructed the infamous Admiral Sharkbar puppet, elaborate fight scenes were choreographed and practised, costumes were designed, and special effects were developed by Sean. Though humble my most accounts, it represented a technical achievement for us at that time, being by far the most complex thing we had ever put together. It was also our first project to be shot on digital tape (a borrowed Canon GL-1). The trailer was completed and was indeed shown at Dragoncon, and afterwards the full length script was wisely abandoned (you can find it here if you're interested). It was, to date, the last video created by CTY.

If you would like copies of the television show {insert title here} on vhs or dvd, or copies of the radio show on audio cd drop me a line and I'll be happy to send you a copy for the price of the discs and shipping (not much). I would love for everyone who's worked so hard on these shows to have copies but so far as I know only a handful of you do.
