The pond
15th
January 2005
One day I
walked an alternate course and came
across a pond that seemed to have stood
time. Curiosity made be kneel beside it
and I peered into its depth. As I
waited, most people hurried past the
pool without a glance but there were
some who took notice and stopped along
their paths to reflect and refresh.
There were odes sung and stones cast...
the pool simply bearing it all. It
amazed me to see it welcome the
interaction, for to me, it looked so
much at peace with its solitude. I asked
the rippled water if it knew that these
diversions were only temporary... and
it said to me, 'Aye it is my curse that
I am frequented only by passersby that
eventually move on... I know well that
there will be more visitors yet I moan
for those who leave.' I mused to myself
as I stood up to make my leave, a
shallow pool after all. |
