Consortium Officers' Letters

Weard Words

Spring has sprung! And with it all the #!$%& POLLEN you can eat! FREE!!!

Ok, allergies aside, we got ourselves a full plate of Consortium stuff going on around us. First up to bat is Coronation. Our own beloved Artan and Hannah will become the King and Queen of Meridies. If you are attending, please keep an eye out for ways you can help. This is a Consortium event and we want to look good to the rest of the Kingdom out there! All you Shire Champions need to be there to escort Her Majesty into court. If you can't attend, make sure you have a stand-in!

Fool's War - This promises to be even more foolish than last year. And we expect more folks to show up as well. Kudos to everyone who has signed up to help out a little. And if you didn't sign up - What's a mattah U?

Atvagas Demo - Here's you a chance to see the new yamling, Nick the Tick. (I think) If not, you can always get in some fighting, eat some exotic food, and probably get kissed on the head by Shair Fiachna.

Other News - I have two bids for Chalice Challenge this year. You can go ahead and mark your calendars for September 7th as the date. Soon I will announce the who and wheres of our annual event. Start practicing now to help your Shire win the Chalice from Rivermarch - or whomever happens to have it now...

We will also be having a regional fighter practice Juneish. Keep your eyes peeled for that!

Finally, you have two weeks left to submit votes or commentary on our two applicants for the Consortium. I refer, of course, to Marion Glen and Viridian's Fjord. Let me know what you are thinking or forever hold your peace! Fool's War will be where I make the announcements on these two groups.

(Hey! Gio didn't ramble on this month!)

PS: I've had to delay the second part of the awards article due to late (or not at all) arriving data on the subject.

Gulf Wars: Kind of Like a Review

By Yseult, who usually just blames Gio for anything she writes...

Well, it would have been nice to give you all a play-by-play of one of the best events on the Meridian calendar, but it seems the Consortium was constantly moving in many different directions, and information was difficult to gather. One thing we're all sure of, though - Baroness Katherine did an *outstanding* job as autocrat!

Meridian Court was incredibly long, but well worth the wait. One of our own (in numerous ways, since he frequently contributes to this newsletter, too), Lord Gryffri de Newmarch, was awarded the Sable Quill for his publication of informative historical writings. Congratulations, Gryffri!

In Great Court, Her Majesty reopened the Order of the Split Arrow, a polling order akin to the Sable Sword or Velvet Owl, into which your own Gio was inducted along with nine of his fellow archers, including Seamus (who needs only to camp with the Consortium one more time to be officially adopted). Our dearly departed Lord Angus MacDoughall, now outlandish, received the Stag's Blood, an award given in the Outlands for fighting prowess.

We also had our moments of group productivity. Consortium members became farmers during Sunday camp break-down and planted our land with leftover potatoes (Pages' School stamping materials...) and onions that had sprouted in my kitchen box. Hopefully, we'll have a nice crop of stew goodies this time next year.
